Very helpful staff. The food was good. The room was a little tired. The wc and seat were loose. On booking we requested a room with a view. We were given one which overlooked the car park. My view is that for the money we paid there is better to be had. We are very unlikely to return.

We attended a wedding here (so weren't overnight guests) but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The building was clean and well maintained, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was great. The only thing preventing more stars was the apparent lack of baby changing facilities in anything other than the ladies toilets. I would expect more from a 21st century establishment. This supposed to be my wife's night off!

Tranquility at the end of the Road.
We had an event in Galashields to attend and thought we would stay at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel. First point to note is that it is a fair distance away from Galashiels (Taxi was £20 one way). But it was worth it!
We stayed over a Saturday and arrived amidst weather that was slowly turning to snow. The views to the Hotel were stunning but upon arriving the hotel took on a whole character and charm all of its own.
The building sits beside the ruins of the Dryburgh Abbey and the room we selected was to have a view out to it. We were not disappointed.
The Hotel sits at the end of road so is completely quiet and beside the great river Tweed. The grounds are huge and it wasn't long before we had our bags into reception.
I will stop here and say, ALL the staff at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel were welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much effort and they made us feel so very welcome. The staff made this hotel Great!
We checked in and went to our room. It was clean and roomy, as as I said, had a great view.
The hotel is looking a little tired, and it seems there are small improvements going on, but that didn't faze us to its charm though. It would probably be a 4 if it weren't for the lovely staff that made this a wonderful stay.
The downstairs lounge had a lovely warm fire to have a sit and chat in and upstair was a quiet reading room looking out over the Abbey. There is plenty of space to enjoy yourself.
I wandered down to the river and even watched 3 otters playing in the water! There are plenty of walks to be done around the area and this is just a lovely location.
The hotel offers a swimming pool and Sauna, and although has been added to the hotel in a way that resembles a builder in a hurry, it was a nice addition to our stay. The pool is small, but very well heated and the sauna was lovely and warm, but again, needed a little attention.
Our sleep was quiet and peaceful and in the morning our breakfast was a lovely treat of hot and cold foods. ( I was looking forward to the famous Omelette though but they were not serving it on the day!) We sat by the window and watched the snow flakes make their way down to the ground.
The Dryburgh Abbey Hotel would do well to improve the slightly tired look with a gentle and flowing interior design. Go for the area, peace and tranquility and when you find yourself beside the fireside with a nightcap in hand, it will seem homely and warm.
I would return to the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel, and I hope I do return soon to the tranquility.

A beautiful hotel from the outside, but inside could do with a bit of an upgrade.
The food is very good, but the menu doesn't change often enough.
The staff are very accommodating, and friendly.
The car park is massive, but unfortunately everyone then takes advantage of this, it could do with some kind of parking lines, or guidance of how much space each car adequately needs, so guests would then park accordingly.
The room we stayed in was lovely, but the shower had hardly any water pressure, the toilet took several attempts to flush! And the lighting was not to great, but the bed really was comfortable and I slept great.
Grounds of the hotel are beautiful, and melrose it self is lovely.

Quiet country house hotel with large comfortable rooms, excellent dining room food, good full Scottish breakfast. Good value.
