Booked as visiting Kelso Races , check in straight forward free parking to rear ! Our room 101 overlooking the cobbled square & was spacious: Booked evening meal & we both enjoyed it with a nice bottle red !Big shout out to the staff who served us , finished the night with drinks in the bar in comfy surroundings: Decent nights sleep in large bed , only disturbed once by revellers outside, Breakfast table allocated & buffet style & was tasty only scrambled eggs out but just ask & get fried if that's your preference! Again the staff were attentive really enjoyed our stay here as some reviews could be construed as negative: We didn't encounter any problems Thanks
Staff were pleasant and helpful.nClean throughout.nExterior and communal areas were wellnmaintained.nLocation was goodnBreakfast was good.nThe room was quite dated and not very spaciousnThe shower had very low water pressure when not set to cold, making it all but unusable for anything but a cold shower.nI was just ok with the firm mattress, but my partner thought it too firm.nThe pillows were well past their best - the filling was inconsistent and clumpy.
Nice little hotel along with friendly staff. Room service everyday which is nice. Room I'm in needs updated. Bath leaks all over floor with no pressure in shower which is a pain, dated decor and the rooms are too hot. Thankfully I found a fan in the wardrobe which just blows hot air around. Beds are a wee bit hard and new pillows required. Al in all I don't think I would book again.
Terrible experience. No one to greet us on arrival after booking a table. Receptionist mumbled that we might be in “that room” whilst vaguely pointing to the left. No member of staff in the room to confirm so we sat at the only available table still not sure if we were booked into that room or that table. 2 menus to share between 6 of us. Only table in the room to have a random black table cloth - realised this was because the table was a make shift foldaway table and totally different to any of the other furniture. 4 out of the 6 of the party were seriously disappointed with their mains. Total lack of flavour in some dishes whilst others were tiny portions - 2 small bits of lamb and 3 potatoes for £22. Staff were lovely but weren’t on the same page as were giving conflicting information. Never asked how the food or our experience was. The dining room had a similar vibe to an all inclusive buffet at a holiday resort - absolutely no atmosphere and was boiling hot. Very disappointed with our experience and would not recommend. The standard of the experience did not reflect the price tag at all.
Avoid!!! The small, dated room with extremely low water pressure was the least of our concerns.nnWe stayed on a Saturday, and while our room overlooked the beautiful Kelso Square, the experience was anything but pleasant. Unfortunately, the evening was filled with the constant noise of loud music, revving car engines, honking horns, and even the sound of people fighting in the street. This went on until well past 3:30 a.m. Our room had single-glazed sash windows that did absolutely nothing to block out the noise. When we requested to be relocated, we were told there were no better rooms available.
