Dog & Gun

About

You have chosen to visit Keswick's first and foremost dog friendly pub.
We provide fresh water as well as treat bags for man or womans best friend

Story

You have chosen to visit Keswick's first and foremost dog friendly pub.
We provide fresh water as well as food to sustain your dog whilst in the lake District. We also provide doggy treats which come in a useable poo bag.

The Dog and Gun is famous for its homemade hungarian Goulash which has been made here for years and comes in small and large portions.
We are proud of the fact that we do not sell any shallow or deep fried food.

We are Cask Marque accredited for our real ales and have been recognised for the last four years in the Good Beer Guide [the only pub in Keswick to do so]. Five of our six real ales are all locally sourced from throughout the Lake District. The sixth one being North Yorkshire's 'Old Peculier'.

We regularly hold quiz nights on a Thursday night at 9:30 with all donations going to Keswick Mountain Rescue Team and North Air Ambulance.

We offer free full wi-fi facilities for you to access.

We have recently had installed and discreetly placed a flat screen T.V to show the Olympic games this year [please note this screen will not be used for the showing of football for any shape or form].

We are within one mile of the main public transport station which is located at Booth's supermarket

Excellent choice of local beers, along with some generic stuff, all well kept and in perfect condition. World famous goulash was worth the wait. The pub itself has a great atmosphere a little quiet at the moment due social distance rules but still probably the best pub in keswick for me, so far.
Gone are the days of a fine ale and splendid goulash. This is now chain pub and sadly poorer for it. The staff are great but what they are given to serve up is not so great.
Lovely dog friendly pub with very friendly staff, food was good for the money. didn't have anything for the dog but they rustled up a few sausages for him which was fantastic to keep him quiet. would definitely recommend.
Really enjoyed eating here having their famous ghoulash for my meal and washed down with a few pints of local ale. Had the large portion and it was delicious. Well organised table service and plenty of beer choice. Would loved to have gone back but its so popular I couldnt get back in while I was staying in Keswick.
Amazing place. Super cosy, dog friendly. Unfortunately due to Covid you cannot just pop up for a pint or two, and they are almost always fully booked I'm not surprised ; , so the best is to plan your visit in advance and book a table. Food was delicious and the guys were super nice and positive :
Absolutely delicious Hungarian Goulash. Small portion for me but large for the hubby. Definitely worth visiting if you can get in that is as always busy - which is a great sign so pleased we tried a few times.
When we were abroad last summer, we ate here after doing the Catbells hike. I loved the goulash -- it was easily one of the top 10 most flavorful things I've ever eaten. The rest of the family loved what they ate as well. Cool atmosphere.
