Went there with a large group and everyone was pleased. Excellent food with surprising choices, not just the boring ordinary menu. Perhaps the only criticism would be that the portions were on the huge side. Nice interior and well behaved guests made this a very nice evening overall.
Our second time here and it was just as great as the 1st. We arrived a little ahead of check in time and they let us have our room at that point. The food is amazing, be sure to work up an appetite walking the fells as the portions are big! The Swinside is a great base to explore the northern lakes Thanks again for another great stay. We will see you again Lisa and Dan
We booked as a large group, and the food was fantastic. I ordered the steak pie and it was excellent. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. The pub seemed like it was steeped in history.
£5.30 for a very average pint of Theakston ale in an average pub but granted, with a lovely view. I mean, I know I'm in the Lakes and I accept prices are higher but come on... There are far more better and more reasonable places round Keswick! Oh and the back of the pub looks like a 1960's council house. Will never go back as I was underwhelmed, felt ripped off and I am not an idiot who wastes cash.
Went for our anniversary dinner. There weren't many people eating in our part of the pub but sat a family right next to us. The menu was limited, the steak £27 each. We asked for medium well done, they came medium. My partner sent his back. When they brought it back he had no cutlery. My partner didn't want veg or salad, it came with salad and onion rings. The steak was grisly. Not worth the money. When the bar staff asked if everything was ok and we said no they made no attempt for reparation.
Had a gorgeous fish finger sandwich, and 2 flat white coffees which were the best I’ve had in a long time - and flat whites are all I tend to drink! Will certainly go again, and would definitely recommend to anyone.
I had high hopes of this pub but was massively disappointed. The pub is in a beautiful location, and has a fantastic beer garden. The pub inside was freezing cold. The ale choice was poor with no local ales or beers and the Lightfoot had a chemical aftertaste. Sadly, 1st pub I've ever left a full pint in and left. Would love to see the place have a greater variety of local lake district ales
Stopped here for a pint after we did a day's trekking mountains. Nice pub. Friendly staff. Didn't have any food but the restaurant looked nice.
Went in and asked for a table for 6. Was told they were fully booked fine but why say it in such a rude way?. Went back to the car and went on the website and booked a table for 6 no problem. Obivously just couldn't be bothered with us.
Called for a drink the other day. Nearly choked when they charged me £14 for 2 pints - that's more than I pay in London!! Very scruffy pub with a fantastic view of the mountains - what a shame. I will not be returning.
