It has to be 35-40 years since I visited The Sun Inn at Bassenthwaite and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. A lovely pub in equally lovely surroundings. A comprehensive menu is available and I found the steak pie to be very nice indeed. Nice selection of ales too, the Cumberland ale complimenting the pie very well. A great stop off point for travellers and walkers alike. Definitely recommend it.
Stopped by for a drink after our visit to the wildlife park nearby and ended up staying for lunch. Beautiful rustic pub, fair selection of drinks including local breweries and the food was delicious. Staff were courteous and managed to seat us even though they were busy. Can't beat a good local pub.
The staff were amazing, the venue was clean and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious! Definitely a worthwhile stop for anybody after a great bite to eat in a friendly and inviting atmosphere. The local ales are delicious, and the menu caters for everyone from carnivore through to vegan, great spread!
Marstons pub. Food was partially decent, but the starters were clearly from the freezer, deep fried. Recommend the lamb shoulder at least, although great variation in the amount of meat between portions.
Super friendly staff full of suggestions for activities in the local area along with a great sense of humour. The food was amazing, and the portion size was great. Very traditional British pub. We need more pubs like this!

Thoroughly enjoyed our lovely lunch at this little hidden gem. Delicious, hot and tasty food in comfortable surroundings. The portions are very generous at a very reasonable price. The pub is dog friendly too which is great. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Well worth a visit
Charming local pub, full of character and friendly, helpful staff. Great selection of ales and other drinks but the main draw for us was the excellent food with very generous portions. The chicken and leek suet pudding special was absolutely delicious! Definitely should be on your visit list, even if just for a post walk drink.
2nd time now. Fantastic service. Awesome food. Gorgeous beer. They went the extra mile even when we ordered the wrong kids meal. Can't fault them. Highly recommended. Just remember to book as it gets busy.
