Great friendly staff with a warm welcome, food was perfect and prices was reasonable. The steak was cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere with a roaring fire for a cold autumn evening. Been many times before and cannot fault this pub. Best in Keswick. 10/10
Fabulous reputation for Sunday roast and we were not disappointed by the Saturday night fare either. Unusually large selection for the non-meat-eater too so if you’re veggie, please give this little pub a go. You will not be disappointed.
Wonderful pub serving top notch traditional food. Of course we had to get the fish pie, and it did not disappoint! The venison bourguignon was equally as delicious. Both were huge portions so no room for dessert! Staffing was short but that is no reason to remove a star. The waiters were friendly and huddling hard!
It has the cozy atmosphere you wish a countryside pub to have, with a lit fireplace. Traditional food which is delicious and comes in big portions, perfect for a post hike hungry lot. Very clean toilets. Friendly staff.
After an 11 mile walk around the full loop of Thirlmere, we decided to call here to see if they had space. It was very, very busy but they allowed us to sit at a table in the bar area and came to set it straight away. We had Rib-Eye and Sirloin then we had Chocolate Pudding and Cheesecake. The food was excellent and the staff were really friendly. Thank you!
The food was very good, although due to lack of staff no starters were being served & they had ran out of fish pie. The pastry on the beef pie was lovely and the meat was very tender. It may have been a better idea to put the sauce that came with the steak in a jug. I would go back despite the above points.
We booked on short notice on the day after reading other reviewers. We had no issues with booking and the food is fantastic especially the pies. Only slight downside was that there were a lot of flies in the room with us, but it didn't ruin the experience.
A cute little pub with the best front of house staff we’ve met in a while! Besides the amazing and genuinely friendly service, the food was great! All classic pub dishes to warm the soul and body.
One of the best traditional pubs in Keswick. Warm, cosy real fire atmosphere and really efficient and friendly staff. Food is super yummy, with generous portions and good prices.
Great place, really busy but still got great service. Good guiness, quote a few veggy options which could be made vegan. We had mushroom Wellington which had a great rich gravy. Also had veg tagine, huge portion and very tasty and fresh, highly recommend if you are staying nearby
