Outstanding pub! What a find this was. Local ales and plenty to choose from. Dog friendly and easy to get to. The staff are wonderful and chatty with a great sense of humour. The food was phenomenal!!! Had the steak and ale pie which was just melt in the mouth. Husband has the burger and was super tasty. Had to have pudding of sticky toffee pudding with ice cream which was also amazing. Friends are travelling up here later this week and will be recommending that they stop here.
Real beer, great food, lovely ambiance. There are always a good range of well kept beers on tap including some local ones. We went for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed burgers and the sour dough baguettes. You wait a little for the food but that’s because it’s cooked fresh and is well worth the wait. The pub is full of walking memorabilia which adds to the experience.
Legendary dog-friendly real-ale pub and restaurant at the top of Keswick. At least six hand-pulled ales plus the regular stuff. Cracking little restaurant to the front.
All of the years we have visited Keswick, we have only just discovered this gem of a pub! Having food intolerances makes life a little difficult when eating out, but I found a couple of things I could eat on the menu Free from Wheat, Dairy and Egg plus Vegan. As a family of 4, we all left satisfied and we will be returning on our next visit. The portions were substantial and the size of the fish and chips passing us looked enormous O'm sure it said gluten free batter on the menu?. My husband was happy to find Theakstons Milk stout on draft bonus for him! ** Photo of my baked potato with vegan chilli and very impressive vegan coleslaw as standard! **
Great food and service. Generous portions. Nice ambience. Dogs and children welcome. Well worth a visit.
Very friendly staff, child and dog friendly. They do a very good portion for the children's menu aswell. Highly recommended
Good honest, cosy pub that serves tasty comfort food. The staff are welcoming. They have a good range of ales and gins and have enough choice of everything else to cater for most. Dogs are welcome and have a few tables outside for the warmer evenings. Wainwright inspired decor as you'd expect. Gets busy so plan your visit.
There is enough said about the food and beer and dog friendlyness of this pub, so let me say something about the toilets and specifically the gents. This has the most classic Victorian urinals in the Lake District. Absolutely magnificent. The tiles on the floor are just the initial welcoming. The urinals are majestic. Enormous. Welcoming. After a few of the fabulously well kept beers you will need to use them and you will be surprised and astounded by the experience. The gents toilets should be listed and never changed. Everyone deserves to piss in such surroundings. I can't speak for the ladies, but the gents is up there with the best in the UK.
Just had a delicious roast beef Sunday lunch. Great homemade Yorkshire pudding, plenty of beef and lashings of gravy. Highly recommend! Just what we were looking for.
Great local beers, ales and porter. Excellent food and atmosphere. Would recommend a visit. You won't feel the need to go elsewhere in Keswick once you have had a pint. Wine is okay! They could do better on the wines for the ladies. Just somthing quality thats all. Would match the beers!
