We stayed at Cranmer Cottages in Wagtail with our 7 months old. It was a great set up with fantastic facilities. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Not having to worry about taking a travel-cot or high chair was such a bonus! Outside play equipment as-well as a games room for all ages was perfect. However, during our stay there was an issue with the boiler. These things happen and cannot be helped, we do understand that. However, notification that it was being dealt with would have been nice avoided us running the shower for 20minutes hoping for some warmth. Later that day when we returned the issue was resolved but again no email or text to make us aware that all was well again. Overall we loved our stay and will be recommending to others and hopefully returning soon.
Great stay at Cranmer cottages. We stayed in Tern Cottage and it was a great set up for our family of 4. Open plan and the garden backed onto the field where there are swings. Climbing frame. And plenty of space for the kids to play football. Swimming pool was great too. Will definitely go back.Rooms: 5/5
Stayed Monday to Friday in Coot Cottage. Me, my partner and our 18m old. They were kind enough to set the cottage up with highchair, travelcot and baby bath before we arrived. Coot is all on one level which was fab for our toddler as no stairs to worry about! We swam often in the pool, most times we were the only ones in there and the games room and extensive outdoor space were fab. Amazing location with everything on your fingertips. Def recommend and will be back!
We loved being back in Swallow. It is our favourite cottage. Roaring log fires, lots of swimming and tennis and a short drive to the beach at Wells. We saw lots of wildlife and a huge sky of stars. Cranmer never disappoints for the best family get away to the countryside.Rooms: 5/5
Cranmer is the perfect escape from city/work/normal life. It is perfectly located, just far enough away from/near enough to the coast, depending on your preference. Great for cycling - we managed Thornham and back on the first day. The Sculthorpe Mill is a great place for food/service and relaxation - amazing garden. Highly recommend. We received a warm welcome from Nikki and Coddy on arrival and ‘Owl’ our home for the week was clean, spacious, private and very well equipped with all the basics. We got lucky with the weather and spent each evening in our garden, eating, drinking and watching the natural world as sun set behind the trees at the end of the field. Although we made use of the furniture we had, I’d suggest some comfortable outdoor furniture would be widely appreciated outside. The pool is a real asset. We used that twice a day on most days and the Covid timetable was fair and worked for us. We also enjoyed the games room for table tennis and pool. The courtyards and grounds are impressive and well maintained. We would’ve liked a bit more air in the barn but for privacy and security reasons we fully understand why some of the French doors and windows might be fastened shut. I accept that we got lucky with the weather and it’s not often 25degC but, it did get a bit warm in there so the large fan provided did get some use and tbf, it did help and we were perfectly comfortable. Cranmer is a place for adults to relax whether they’re with or without children and we fully expect to book again. Sorry we didn’t get to say goodbye properly but Nikki and Coddy were busy with others and we had to split to meet friends for breakfast. Thanks for everything though. We really appreciated being there and all the hours/years hard work that you’ve all put in to make it a great place to be. Best wishes, Matt + Di
Our family of five plus two dogs stayed at End Cottage this week and had a wonderful holiday - the private garden was perfect for the dogs, the time allocated for us to have private pool sessions and the proximity to all the great beaches Norfolk has to offer was perfect for us. Only downside was the adjustment to Norfolk’s lack of phone signal / decent wifi….but that’s Norfolk-wide and not just this location!
Great location. Generally very quiet and in a rural location. About 8 miles from Wells. Fantastic South facing terraces on cottages facing the Playing field. Great for relaxing evenings and bbq's. Staff very attentive and couldn't do enough to make your stay a great experience. On this occasion we hired 3 cottages so our whole family could be together. All the cottages were spotlessly clean, good mattresses and good quality linen and towels. All the cottages were provided with enough basic essentials soap, toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets etc to get you underway for your holiday. There's a small Waitrose store about 5 minutes drive from the cottages. We will definitely be returning. 2022 visit: Generally as above, but needs better supervision for cleaning and decor. Oven not clean, freezer totally frosted up. Paint peeling in bedroom, water stains on bathroom floor.
We stayed in Swallow Cottage during the first week of the October half term. We are a family of five with 3 boys 13, 11 and 3. Usually this is quite a challenge to satisfy all, but the facilities at Cranmer Cottages we great from the swimming pool to the games room to the football pitch size open space, with swings and slides not to mention strong WiFi, Amazon Prime, Netflix etc which was all on hand. The accommodation with Swallow Cottage suited us down to the ground and had everything, from washing machine, dishwasher with tablets to powerful showers and really comfy beds. There were electrical towel rails in both on-suite bathrooms so that when boys will be boys you have the chance to dry towels, shoes and clothes. In short it was nothing short of perfect. The location of Cranmer Cottages was also ideally suited, its pretty much 20-30 minutes from anywhere to mention Holkenham Hall, Beach and Wells-the Sea are must. The White Horse at Brancaster Straite is a must as is the The Globe in Wells-the-Sea. All in all a really pleasurable stay that ticked all the boxes. Lynne, John and Nikki couldn't do enough for you and have created a real gem of a holiday venue!
Excellent for families. Great location. Lovely place to stay with indoor pool, playroom, and outdoor enclosed field with climbing frame, swings, Wendy house and caravan playhouse. We all had a lovely time and will definitely book again.Rooms: 5/5
We booked for our family to stay at Cranmer over Christmas and we had plenty of space while still enjoying each other’s company. The grounds are outstanding and the cottages are beautiful and well equipped. We loved being able to use the games room and the indoor swimming pool. The kids and adults were all equally thrilled with their stay. I can’t wait to come back!
