Recently stayed for 2 nights. What a gloriously decorated and atmospheric old building! The rooms are beautifully decorated and completed with the most exquisite still life oil paintings by Charlotte Harmer, one of the business owners. The welcome I received was ever so warm and friendly. I heartily recommend this gorgeous establishment with it's beautiful paintings, lavish decor, it's homely and it's equally lovely husband and wife hosts to anyone wanting or needing to stay in the Walsingham area. I hope to visit The Old Bakehouse many, many times as it is truly a North Norfolk secret that needs sharing far and wide!
Staying at the centrally located Old Bakehouse in the High Street. A very friendly welcome awaited us as we entered the delightful Old Bakehouse living room. The room is beautifully decorated and has many lovely artworks. Our bedroom had a bathroom opposite for our sole use. The room had an open fire which Justin kindly lit for us. The bed was very comfy with soft eiderdowns and even heated blankets. It had all we needed for a comfortable night and cup of tea in the morning. Charlotte provided milk. Breakfast is easy self service with croissants/cereal/toast etc. All in all a great stay and we would certainly return.
Beautiful period property, felt like traveling back in time. Ideal for history and architecture enthusiasts. Centrally located with quick and east access to car park. The Nelson suite is a lovely period bedroom, with antique furniture, with private bathroom across the hall. The mattress was too hard to sleep on, but I guess it depends on the individual. Breakfast is 3 plain croissants, self-service. Coffee and tea is available for you to make. Definitely would stay here again.
We had visited for a weekend for my husband's birthday not knowing the history of the village but we were beyond welcomed. The very kindest of hosts, the bed was massive and really comfortable. They even gave us a lovely bottle of wine to celebrateRooms: 4/5
Walshingham packed with interesting buildings, and the old bake house was characterful. But comfortable and clean too. The owners were friendly and I particularly appreciated Peter's dry sense of humour. BUT .. I was on a cycling tour and they made hard work of negotiating an early start 8:30, nothing outlandish, and the breakfast was mean ... any kind of eggs as long as they are scrambled, ONE piece of toast, and a small pot of coffee.
The owners were lovely. Very welcoming and very helpful. I'm a vegan and they did all they could to accommodate me. Room was nice and a very comfortable bed. Only problem was there was no TV reception, but that was a blessing as it meant my wife and I got a nice early night as we were getting up early the next day.
Lovely property, friendly hosts. No distractions like TV so great just to socialise with other guests.Rooms: 5/5
