Older hotel, proper English style, with a lot of charm. The staff make it great. Some rooms have been refurbished to more modern style, other still very old English. Ask the staff and they'll help you find the right room. There's a proper pub called the library room. There are three different restaurant areas on site each with their own menu, everything from pub food, you high end. Only down side is in summer it can get quite warm and not all rooms have air conditioning, again, ask the staff, and they'll help. Over all it's a delight, and they offer cheaper parking if traveling from Gatwick, just stay the night before.

The original inn of the Copthorne claims as the oldest inn in Britain. Now this sprawling hotel caters to conventions, leisure and business travellers and especially 'distressed' passengers who for varying reasons have been forced by their respective airline to spend an unplanned night at an LGW hotel. The hotel itself is well worn, but still comfortable. Some rooms have oversized spa tubs which can help pass the hours as you contemplate your new flight schedule. Two restaurants - one being quite nice. There are two breakfast areas; one catering to business guests. Guide/Service dog friendly and polite accommodating staff. If you're interested in walking the vast grounds offer a lovely scenery.

I revisited after deciding to use other hotels in the area for the last 18 months. To be honest, not much has changed. The biggest downside to here is the staff. The reception is supposed to be the welcoming face of any hotel, but so far it's a mundane experience. It's leaves a feeling that you really aren't welcome. Staff are going through the motions. I would go as far as saying it's an unpleasant experience. This is also reflected in the upper bar. The 2 staff members there are unfriendly and very slow. Overall, I now remember why I decided to stay elsewhere. It's a pity as there is a lot of potential.

Very uncomfortable. The beds in this hotel are as smooth as a cobbled beach, so bad we hardly slept. For a hotel of this standard to not supply drinking water in the room is unacceptable. Even the 2 star hotels in the rain forest did this. When I asked about water I was told by a surly receptionist that I had to purchase it from the bar at a cost of £4.40 which equates to £5.60 a litre; liquid gold or what. As for the coffee at breakfast it was a case of one granule or two of coffee, it was so weak as to be clear. Will never use them again

Nice hotel. But a bit nosey and the rooms are a bit random. Some had air conditioning and some didn't. Layout in the room was a bit odd
