The idea sounds good and the lake looks quite good. Problem is that it stinks. There's definitely stagnant water near to the outdoor seating area where patrons eat and drink. Some of the clientele leave a lot to be desired - they stink too! There were menus on our outdoor table. We (a party of two) selected our preferences from the menu only to be told the kitchen had closed. This was strange given that upon arrival we established with the waiting staff we were looking for a table for two. All round the Wiremill Lakeside Pub was a real disappointment for us. Sad.

The staff were all very nice and helpful through our visit to the Wiremill. The issues came once we ordered food, we were waiting an hour before we got our starters, and then another half an hour before the rest of our food came out. I didn't order a starter which means I didn't get my food until an hour and an half after I ordered. I would also consider my food quite expensive for what was only an average tasting dish. There was nothing exciting about the dish, however I believe we payed a high price for both food and drinks. I would consider returning, but unfortunately wouldn't eat at The Wiremill again.

Amazing food. We had to wait along time between started being cleared and main course (about an hour). This didn't bother us as we had lots to talk about. I get a feeling they forgot us. As people were served both courses in that time. However I would definitely go back.

I've been here a number of times before and have always had a great experience. Unfortunately my most recent was amongst the worst service I have ever received. 45 minutes before they took our order and an hour before our first drink arrived. All restaurants have bad days, I understand that, it is how you deal with these days that counts. There was no communication and no appology, every single table was complaining. There was no completementary drink, no plate of olives or such to tie you over. Everyone is good when it's going to plan, if you don't know how to manage when it's not going to plan you shouldn't be in business. You ruined our anniversary meal and couldn't have cared less... The food was fantastic incidentally, hence the extra star.

As usual, we had a lovely quiet stay at the wire mill. The room was clean and well presented. We were lucky to have such a beautiful morning and enjoyed our delicious full English on the patio overlooking the lake. We'll be back soon!
