A basic London Overground station that has no ticket barriers here and no disabled access only stairs at the entrance and stairs to the platforms. The station was clean and there is a staff member here to help. Across the road is Clapham North underground station.
This surprisingly basic station is on the Windrush Overground line between Dalston Junction and Clapham Junction, though a limited service to Battersea Park is also available. It sees around 1.4 million passengers per year.nnIt is just around the corner from Clapham North Underground station and is an “out of station interchange”, which means you can switch between stations without incurring two journey fees.nnNo step-free access at this station, nor any ticket barriers, only contactless readers by the entrance and some small shelters on the very exposed platforms should the weather be bad.nnSoutheastern are keen to have their Lewisham services stop here, but since their trains are too old they can only pass through for now.nnFor those interested in history: the station opened on 25th August 1862 simply called “Clapham” as part of the London, Chatham and Dover Railway, though was renamed “Clapham & North Stockwell” the following year. It finally became “Clapham High Street” in 1989 the same year it was given a 'worst station' award by The Daily Telegraph!. The original station building was redeveloped in 2003 into residential apartments and is now Grade II listed.nnIf you found my review or video interesting, please leave a quick thumbs up Thank you!
The station is clean, with regular trains running every 10-15 mins. Though i believe the station should be fitted with better wind shelters on the platform as it gets really windy as it's on higher ground.
The easiest and fastest way to get to the Center is to bypass the first zone.nI recommend!nn5 stars!
No step free access at all at this station, requiring both steps up and down to reach the subway and platform. Ticket machines are provided here by the entrance and no ticket barriers either. Trains usually run every 15 minutes here.nnThe bridge carrying the train line has some... interesting graffiti to say the least.
