Norbury Train Station is served by Southern trains which go towards London Bridge, Sutton, Watford Junction & Victoria. The ticket hall area is large with some seats & books to read making your way pass there is the two platforms which has disabled access via a large wide slope when reaching the platforms you have toilets available a waiting room & a small coffee shop. The station was clean and tidy and is nice there are four platforms here platforms 1 & 2 are for trains which stop here platforms 3 & 4 are for high speed trains that don't stop at Norbury & not in passenger use.
Very nice and clean train station .nBike stand outside, a few coffee shops, as well as a good selection of hot food options in vicinity of the station. Almost every time some staff person is available. Good connection with Victoria or London Bridge.
Diverse suburban area that is now predominantly Indian/Asian with a growing east European flavour.n40 years ago, Norbury High Street was great for diverse local shopping until the council imposed parking restrictions and killed it. Local standards declined, fly-tipping increased and the local Police Station became flats and a nursery.nCopycat shops appeared and every other shop became a fried chicken outlet, a barber, a mobile phone accessory shop, or a nail bar.nAs the various enterprises arose to saturate an already over-exposed market, some unique ones remained.nSo... we have multiple pizza places, several Indian restaurants, and more barbers than you can shake a stick at.nYet we also have a Pan shop, ice cream parlour, fish n chip shop, a gym and one or two non-food-related shops I think? - and we still have a Post Office although the last banks left after the Covid-19 pandemic.nGreat for haircuts, nails, fried chicken, mobile phone accessories, vapes, and Asian food fresh & cooked - and now multiple shops catering for east Europeans.nRubbish for clothes, electronics, or home furnishings.nShops stay open later, so the high street is vibrant until quite late at night.nWith a busy train station and good transport connections, house prices are being driven up by those who buy property, develop it, and then move on. So, it tends to be a more transient community. But with all the above being said, it remains a good place to live with three parks in the local area.
Am I missing something or has Southern Rail really decided to greet passengers at the first information point at *Norbury* station with a network route map that is missing the entire norbury branch?! I'm not familiar with the these lines so I'm sure I must be missing something...?!
Good station in itself with all facilities including EV charging point, toilets, a bakery, books, piano and a self serving machine .
