We have recently ordered an ex-display dining room table and 8 new chairs from Calligaris in Manchester, and I just wanted to share our shopping experience. Our experience with the staff whom work in the shop was excellent but on the delivery day our table arrived around 6pm (we were originally told it should be delivered early afternoon), when the delivery company arrived they setup the table while we were making our dinner while occupying our three children. Once the table was in place the delivery company asked us to sign a delivery note and said if we have any issues with the table to contact Calligaris but as soon as they left we examined the table to identify the table had damage to one corner as if it has been dropped on the floor (the packaging didn't look too good, maybe because it was an ex-display model). We took photo's of the damage immediately and emailed them through to the staff at Calligaris Manchester. We got a reply saying don't worry we will arrange to get the table repaired but a few days later we got a call to say they were unable to repair the table as we had signed for it on delivery (this had come from the management team). When we asked about the cost of the repair they told us it would be less than £100 from a company whom they recommended, we complained again but this made no difference so I cleaned up the table myself with fine sandpaper so it looks almost perfect now. We feel because we paid almost £6K for the table and chairs we should have been treated better. So just a warning to anybody else ordering from Calligaris if you sign a delivery note make sure you spend some time checking the furniture first or sign it as unchecked so you can spend some time looking at it once the delivery company leave your home.
