It surprised me how nice it was on the inside. I know you shouldn't judge a book by the cover but I've driven past this place lots of times and never fancied going in. It was a lot bigger than I expected too. Nice tables and chairs, with plenty of room. Free WiFi with a complicated password written on a blackboard behind the bar. The food was OK and we were served fairly quickly.
We booked at very short notice, and were accommodated even though it was near the end of food service. It was busy for a midweek evening. Nice ambiance and I was impressed with the efficiency of the staff, however the food was disappointing, after reading all the positive reviews.
Was really disappointed with our lunch. Ordered garlic mushroom starter - expected breaded mushrooms/garlic dip but it was just sliced white mushrooms swimming in a bowl of garlic white sauce. Was served with a spoon! Second course was the same garlic white sauce served with sliced supermarket mushrooms with farfalle pasta on a plate with peas on the side! Yep pasta and peas on the same plate! A bowl of chips then arrived that were like the bottom of the bag from a supermarket. I don't mind paying £15 for a main but it needs to be something better than I can cook at home, and I'm afraid this was far from that. Service was adequate and drinks were a good price. The menu is over priced for the quality of food that is served.
This was our third visit. Disappointed to find out they don’t serve food all day. We’d arrived after a busy day shopping to have to make do with a bag of crisps. Person who ho met us told us no dogs in the restaurant too which must have changed as last time we went we could take our dog he’s tiny. We weren’t allowed to sit on the restaurant at all and instead wedged into a corner of the bar next to the fire. Okay for most maybe but one of our party is a wheelchair user so extreme temperatures are not ideal. Shame this experience has taken the shine off the place for us
Quite evening meal out. A different selection from the norm. You'll find no burgers on the menu here. My partners fish was nicely cooked and Mt Archers jumbo sausage was what you'd expect from an Archers sausage. Very tasty. Sensible portion sizes.
Really good Sunday roast. The pork still comes with Yorkshire I'll fight you if you disagree it can only be beef and the crackling was amazing.Service: 5/5
Very good food and good value served by friendly staffService: 5/5
Had a great family meal. Food was very good and hot. Service was quick.Service: 5/5
The food at the restaurant was really lovely, portion sizes were large but the service was a little bit slow.
Food was great service was very good ,even though they were very busy and my husband loved the peach melba , I will warn you portions are good including desert, so not for those on a diet , its food to enjoy .
