We went here for a drink on a Friday night. The pub is lovely with a great atmosphere. There were a few tables empty when we turned up which was good as it meant we could sit down! Beware that it is card only though here.
Well, what can I say about this place. My best friend and her Fiance married this weekend at Norwich Castle, and held their Wedding Reception here. We had an amazing day. Much of this was due to Steve the Landlord, and his staff. What a lovely man, and, the staff were an amazing young team. They could not do enough for us. So friendly, so sweet and polite. An absolute credit to the venue and Steve. Thank you Steve for allowing us to come in early to set up, so much appreciated. Very kind of you. A superb friendly pub, enhanced by the regulars of the "four legged" kind. All eager to have a tummy rub, or a doggy treat from behind the bar. Excellent dog friendly place. The pets were all under control and not rollocking about the place. Even if you are not a pet fan, this place is a must to visit as they were all impeccably behaved. Had we have not been staying at a hotel, we certainly would have brought our four legged friends with us. The wedding party were not all local people. We ranged from Ireland, to Leeds, to Londoners, with a few Norwich folk thrown in. All of the regulars made us totally welcome. From me, who ran pubs for over 26 years and my family and friends, whom many of us have been in this industry, and know what makes a good pub, a massive thank you to you, Steve, and your staff. When I am next down that way, I will certainly return. Clean, friendly, good choice of beers, food, dogs, wonderful staff and quite simply, a beautiful pub. You must pay it a visit!!
Really nice pub. Huge beer garden at the back that does pizza on stone baked pizza oven. Has a pub dog called Harvey who is lovely. Doesn't accept Scottish notes. Be warned. Retractable sun roof. Pub quiz on a Wednesday. Lots of discs inside and out. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Contactless. Bottle wine for 13.50.
A lovely little local pub spot, great outside space
Very nice pub, nice atmosphere, and lush heating of the outdoor seating area...!!!
Octoberfest was on when I visited this wonderful Free House. Great choice of beers, live sports available and food is lovely.
These 4 stars come with a caveat: visit on certain nights. There are two managers, one older and one younger. The older one has been borderline offensive on the two occasions I’ve been in when he’s been there and would be wise to watch what he says. The other younger manager is the total opposite and on the nights he’s been working the pub seems to have a totally different atmosphere with plenty of laughs and smiles on faces. He answered my questions and seemed to take a genuine interest in my day which is unusual in this day and age. I will be asking what nights he works next time I see him to avoid the pub on the other nights. Other than that it’s a nicely decorated traditional pub, much much bigger than you’d expect from what you see on the outside. The pub has good offers most days which are well worth taking advantage of, happy hour is the one for me as I’m a lager lover.
Great pub in the city, has a good selection of beers and Harry's soul Train is normally parked outside serving great food
Decent selection of beers, nice atmosphere.
Nice selection of beer, good atmosphere and nice inside. Outside seating area is also very good, especially with the heaters. The sealing is a bit low when heading to the outside area/function room, so tall people remember to duck! haha
