The Brickmakers
"New Year! New Management!Welcome to The Brickmakers 2023We serve a great selecion of drinks including Cask Ale.We have Pool, Darts and Cribbage, and later this year Food too, as we are currently installing a kitchen. We are one of Norwichs most Iconic Music Venues....On the main stage we have mostly local covers bands, usually free entry. But we do occasionally pull the cat out of the bag with a more well known act or a tribute band where it is ticket entry. The B2 venue is our grassroots venue , where you will find up and coming acts from all over the country, mostly metal and Rock, but also pop, punk and folk.During summer we have our outside stage for various events too!"

The evening I went there England were playing their world Cup match vs France. This delayed the fabulous Glamtastics coming on stage. It was worth the wait though! The pub is very well set up as a music pub, with a stage, dance floor and seating around. The bar was busy but you never seemed to wait long to be served. The staff were friendly and efficient.
We went to see Joel Hoekstra and Brandon Gibbs, Blind tiger and Alia tempora and they were Brilliant but that's where it stops. I have been going there for over 10 years but now the place has completely lost its atmosphere. I think it was taken over in the new year. There are silly signs up everywhere, dont do this dont do that etc. No drinks allowed on the dance floor now. It a music venue and should have been kept exactly how it was. It had a massive following before this and most weekends the place was sold out or absolutely rammed full in there. We were waiting patiently for our turn to meet Joel and Brandon as they said after the gig they would personally meet every one of us which was amazing of them, but realised we didnt have a pen for an autograph. We asked at the bar if we could borrow their sharpie for a second. Brandon and joel literally stood there waiting to give us an autograph. It would have taken a few seconds. The staff quite rudely went on a mini rant about how the boss should get to meet them first as it was his place and he wanted free t-shirts and the staff should go first as they had been serving drinks all night and deserved it so we couldn't borrow it. Now if your are reading this review Brickmakers listen up. Its all of your paying customers that keep you open. It's all of the people that paid for tickets and the privilege of being there that come first. Your bar staff are there to serve us, the people that keep them in a job and pay their wages. They had a meet with them after we all left along with photos. You are killing the atmosphere of the place. Most of us when we visit there are in groups of up to 20 people and a lot of us know each other. But this particular night and a few before that I've noticed a lot of regular people missing. I feel its going downhill fast. Also some of the regular bands are not there this year. Some of those bands always had sellouts but I'm noticing they aren't playing anymore?? It would be such a shame to see this place go down. Please make it what it used to be and that's one of the best music venues in Norwich.
Brilliant venue for bands and music lovers.
Loved seeing Blind Tiger. Such a great band. Looking forward to seeing them soon in 2023 at the Brickmakers. Great bar staff too!
