This place is nicely hidden off the beaten track from the London city social and work scene down a rather grubby little alleyway. Though, when you get inside you are met by friendly staff and nice decor. Our waiter was very jolly, attentive and hospitable, and definitely contributed to the positive experience. The seating, ambiance, service and live music was great, however for me this place fell short of five stars for the following reasons. 1. Dirty crockery. The tables were very well laid but some of the plates and cutlery were not cleaned properly. Also as food was delivered you could see that the edges were wiped with a cloth that wasn’t fresh as the stains dried on the plate. 2. The food was ok... it was nothing to write home about and it certainly wasn’t anything special. The portion sizes were also small. Look at the photo of the steak.. at £19.50!!! There was also a very poor selection of desserts, some of which were unavailable from the outset. 3. Overpriced. The food was hugely overpriced for the quality of what we received. I’m happy to pay for good food but for what we had, it definitely wasn’t worth the money. There’s also an extra charge per person if you happen to be eating whilst the live music starts. A bit unfair! Oh and the discretionary added service charge, which to be honest I would have paid anyway as the service was fantastic. I so wanted to give this place a higher rating as we all had a great time. And because we were celebrating birthdays we didn’t want to upset the evening by complaining. But after spending a lot of money here, we all left feeling hungry. If you’re more interested in drinks a great atmosphere and good music then this place is for you.
Live piano and singing. Great atmosphere. Went for the bookatable deal 3-course with champagne £30 pp, great price and big portion.
I enjoyed my visit to Boisdale in Bishopsgate. It's easy to miss the narrow Dickensian alleyway which is probably why Boisdale doesn't draw the city masses to its Jacobean-style establishment. Conversation can flow here without the need to shout over the music. Tartan and dark aged wood dominates the smart bar at ground level. This is the place for people who appreciate the style of years gone by. The dark red walls give a kinda sexy vibe if you ask me. Hip kids, you might want to stay in Shoreditch which is just 10 minutes walk away. Dinner is served on the floor below. Judgement on that will be passed on another date. The deep citrusy notes of the B.O.B Sangria is a good starter. But I get the feeling that this is the sort of place where whiskey and cigars rule the roost. Like I said, for people with taste that can only be refined over the years. This is a place for grown-ups. Dates, business talks or just a chill evening with a glass of your favourite red works just as well here at Boisdale in Bishopsgate.
Six Stars! The staff? Polite, professional, helpful friendly. The food? Fantastic Balanced. Music? Live jazz- wow! Prices? Reasonable. Environment? Vintage Classy Cosy. A memorable experience- a short trip to 1920s New Orleans alcohol prohibition times.
Really enjoyed the experience here. Deco was amazing, food is a bit pricey but the quality is amazing. Staff were extremely nice and friendly. Not a fan of the music charge but wasnt too bad
Food and atmosphere was great. Tipped heavily. If there's a live act playing try to remember to put your knife and fork down and show your appreciation/applaud when appropriate. Undervalued
Fantastic service, food and cocktails plus great live music! Down a small alley, make sure you dont miss it!
Nice place, a bit on the expensive side, but food was good! Had the lobster Mac and cheese, wasn't as good as I would've expected, but I do prefer spicy food.
Lovely environment and wonderful live jazz music from Tuesday to Friday...
Amazing place. Very cool. Lovely food whilst listen to a live jazz band .
