Fenchurch Restaurant

Story

20 Fenchurch Street is a commercial skyscraper in London that takes its name from its address on Fenchurch Street, in the historic City of London financial district. It has been nicknamed 'The walkie-talkie' because of its distinctive shape. Construction was completed in spring 2014, and the top-floor 'sky garden' was opened in January 2015. The 34-storey building is 160m tall, making it the sixth-tallest building in the City of London and the 12th tallest in London.Designed by architect Rafael Viñoly and costing over £200 million, 20 Fenchurch Street features a highly distinctive top-heavy form which appears to burst upward and outward. A large viewing deck, bar and restaurants are included on the top three floors; these are, with restrictions, open to the public. The tower was originally proposed at nearly 200m tall but its design was scaled down after concerns about its visual impact on the nearby St Paul's Cathedral and Tower of London. It was subsequently approved in 2006 with the revised height. Even after the height reduction there were continued concerns from heritage groups about its impact on the surrounding area. The project was consequently the subject of a public inquiry; in 2007 this ruled in the developers' favour and the building was granted full planning permission. In 2015 it was awarded the Carbuncle Cup for the worst new building in the UK in the previous 12 months.OwnershipIn July 2017 the Hong Kong food company Lee Kum Kee Groups agreed to purchase the building from Land Securities and Canary Wharf Group for £1.3 billion.

Decided to spoil my grown up sons for their Birthday. The venue is excellent and very memorable. With the booking we didn't have to join the long entry queue. We went straight to security abs then into the lift. The service is first class. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu and my eldest son had the wine pairing. We were given canopies and our drinks. The wine waiter was superb, he described each wine pairing with each course and was very knowledgable. My son much appreciated this. Each course looked amazing and the flavours were delicious, right up to the last course. Although expensive, it was a worthwhile and memorable birthday treat. We also had time to wonder around the Sky Garden.
Simply exquisite. The setting, the service, the food, the views...what a special fine dining experience in the heart of London! Excellent produce and top-notch presentation, very delicate. Enjoy the panoramic views especially at sunset and watching the people below... If you get the opportunity to dine here, do not hesitate!
Was a great experience with the view! Food was wasn’t too bad but had a higher expectations for its price. Cocktails were nice. Best part about this restaurant was the view as you can dine whilst watching the sunset. Also as it’s inside the Sky Garden, you get to browse around it for as long as you like saving the need of buying separate tickets. Customer service was great. Definitely perfect for date nights. Overall I would recommend for the experience and view.
Interesting place, with an amazing view and food and of course prices way higher than expected. Contrary to my expectations, despite this being a french restaurant, I didn't go out still hungry. There is a very short menu. A waiter explained us what each dish was very well, in a picturesque way that we will hardly forget. Cod is highly advised: I never had a better one.
This restaurant was the higher end of the two options inside the walkie talkie. It was phenomenal and great views of course. The menu is limited but definitely worth the experience. The cocktails were great as well. Greta was our server and she was fantastic. She checked up on us to make sure everything was great and definitely made our night perfect. I ordered the crab appetizer and the gnocchi main. My friend got the risotto appetizer and the Kobe for her main. For desert we got the chocolate bar as Greta recommended and I got the cheese plate as well. Everything was great and we will definitely be visiting again the next time we are in London.
The atmosphere was great, food was nice, but very limited choices and the service was questionable. We kept getting served other people's orders and it was weird after a few times. Happy to have been there once, but will think twice before going there again. Totally worth it for the views. If you want to go out on the balcony, you have to be there before 6pm as they shut the doors at 6PM.
We went for the tasting menu. The service was impeccable, as you would expect from a restaurant like this. The food presentation was amazing. We had cocktails and they were very tasty. However, the taste of the food was a bit of a let down. The flavours are mediocre and not as good as we expected. Overall it’s not too bad, as we went for an occasion so the vibe mattered more.
I had very high expectations of the restaurant, unfortunately I was quite underwhelmed. The location obviously is amazing, the setup and service are excellent, but the food was not up to par. The dishes look unbelievably extravagant, so the aesthetic presentation is great but I cannot say the same about the taste. For that amount of money you would expect much better tasting dishes. Risotto was not creamy and tasted more like grits. Lamb chop was so fatty and undercooked that we left it untouched. Gnocchi literally came with 4 pieces of fried gnocchi with no sauce, tasting more like French fries. I can keep going on and on. Apple desert was basically cooked apples, not even sweet. I would probably give it a 1 star if it wasn't for wonderful presentation and great staff.
WOW!!! What an experience. The views were amazing it the food was even better. We enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu, with wine pairings. The service was exceptional!
Quite an exquisite experience! A restaurant with a view and staff service was more than welcoming, although a bit overwhelming! The food was amazing. I especially enjoyed the sirloin that felt like it was melting in my mouth!Food: 4/5
