Can't really ask for better for £50 per night. Decent size and clean room. Checked in at 11pm without issue staff were nice. Nice comfortable bed with AC in the room. TV with Chromecast was a nice touch. Bathroom is a wet room with a shower, some may not like this but I didn't have an issue with it. Free water provided in the room but no coffee machine. Hairdryer was provided. No bad smells in the room or bathroom. Soundproofing was decent and no noise from the street level throughout the night. Free street bay parking until 8am and can extend via Ringo after 8am no need to wake up early and move the car. I would not use the nearby car park for overnight parking as doesn't appear safe but parking during the day was fine £6 all day parking available on Caroline Street. All in all I would stay here again if needed.
We attended an event nearby, and this spot was ideally located just 6 minutes away—great value for the money. While I usually enjoy high-tech amenities, it felt a bit excessive here; even the check-in and check-out through the app didn’t work smoothly. The toilet paper quality could be improved, and the shower head was quite small, making showers a bit tricky. Overall, though, it was clean, reasonably priced, and in a perfect location for our needs.
An excellent short-stay hotel for a great price! Check-in/out was absolutely seamless with their futuristic Smart Room Control webapp. I really enjoyed using it to call the lift, open the room door, control the lights and temperature on my phone without having to download a single app! My room was comfortable with plenty of pillows and a great sized bed all for myself. I could genuinely see myslelf enjoying a whole day lazing in bed while using the TV here. While I am generally not a fan of wet bathrooms, this hotel's was by far the nicest I have used so far. The design of it just makes it feel so clean. The floor feels comfortable to step on, even when it's cold and wet. The tiling is so large that you basically won't have to step on top of any of those little tile edges. I loved having a warm monsoon shower too! They also have fantastic discounts on a number of restaurants if you book direct. The next time I return, I'll make sure to do just that!
Good value, decent location. No windows in the room is a bit peak but we were made aware before booking and could have upgraded if we cared that much. Room is very cozy and cute but incredibly snug. Never experienced a wet room before, not eager to do it again but was OK. Overall, would stay again.Rooms: 4/5
Easy to find. Room was nice and clean. Bed really comfortable with TV at the end. Bathroom shower was clean and tidy. Receptionist lad was really polite helpful. Deffo be booking again . Everything was just perfect and hotel was easy to find just couple of minutes from metro station. Rooms: 5/5
me and my husband go to hotel whenever we are in birmingham. we love this hotel been going for the past year and a half. cheap prices if you book ahead from your stay otherwise can be £80 or above. location isnt far from town but only walking distance place to get food is dominos so best to order food. m husband susprised me for my birthday and they upgraded our room for us so lovely. we love using the tech to open our door and ac. the wet room isnt as bad as people think just makes the toilet wet but apart from that the wet room is fine and it has lovely hot water which is perfect since birmingham is a cold city. we will defo be coming back for our annivesery in january
Overall this is a great budget hotel. The furnishings are all new and clean, but you can tell its cheap. Had an incident where I asked for room service and they never came, received an apology but would have been nice to be offered late checkout or something for the issue. Regardless, the location is quieter and a bit further from things but still a good location. The smart room control can be a bit finicky, but overall it works well. The tablets on the wall appear to be running Fully Kiosk and also worked well. The built in chromecast also worked without issue The bathroom is a bit cramped as my knees were almost against the wall, and the ventilation is extremely loud which might make it hard to sleep given the proximity to the bedroom and the lack of a closing door. Regardless, still enjoyed my stay and it was worth the price paid.
Absolutely loved my stay at Bloc Hotel! Big shoutout to Amy and the whole team for being so lovely and making my three-week stay so easy. Thank you to Kim, Tim and Luca for being awesome. The customer service here from these guys is exceptional, and they are all a true credit to the hotel. I was in an apartment room while waiting for my new tenancy to start, and honestly, the staff made all the difference – always friendly, smiling, and ready to help with anything. The hotel is modern. The room was super comfy and had everything I needed to feel right at home. I was really impressed with how high-tech everything was – using a personal link to access the lift and my room was a nice touch. The apartment room I stayed in was perfect for working from 'home', cooking my meals, and just chilling out. If you’re after a top-notch place to stay that you might not have considered, this is the one. Massive thanks again to the staff – you really give the place such a good vibe and you are all a huge asset to the place!
Firstly upon arrival we where given a free upgrade wich put a smile on our faces after a long day of traveling, the room was so clean and beautiful, not to mention the smart TV with netflix and YouTube, I've personally never seen this in hotels before but we where pleasantly surprised. The air con in the rooms was amazing and so easy to control, the shower was phenomenal, it made the bathroom feel like a little sauna! Staff where so lovely and helpful, and the overall hotel is now our favourite and we will definitely be returning very soon. The ONLY criticism is that there where no vending g machines for a late night snack or a quick pick me up in the morning, but it didn't effect our trip at all it's more of an idea for the future.
I’m confused. Genuinely baffled. Having stayed at Bloc Hotel Birmingham for one night, I can’t decide whether the concept is a stroke of minimalist genius or if I’ve just been gently held captive by a tech-obsessed design team. So, for a bit of context, I booked one of their basic rooms—the ones without windows, because apparently that’s a thing now. As a solo traveller just staying one night, this was fine. I don’t need frills. I’m not expecting turn-down service or a pillow menu. The room was, to its credit, modern and very clean. Minimalist to the point where you start wondering if you’ve actually walked into a prototype for the next generation of iPhones. Because the whole concept here is built around technology—everything from the doors to the room climate is controlled via your phone. Genius, right? Well, it would be if the tech actually worked. Which, at times, it didn’t. Sure, there are physical light switches in the room, but when your entire brand is hinged on a futuristic tech experience, it really needs to be bulletproof. And this was almost there, but not quite. It’s like watching someone juggle knives—exciting until they drop one and you’re left wincing. Now, the wet room. I’ve never understood them, and this stay didn’t change my mind. Essentially, your entire bathroom is rendered unusable the moment you’ve had a shower, and the floor remains a slippery murder trap for hours after. Also, while we’re here, the bed could have been more comfortable, but that’s a personal preference, I suppose. So, when I checked out, I was, frankly, discombobulated. Had I just experienced a cleverly designed, no-frills night in a box room, or had I spent the night in a slightly glitchy high-tech cell? I can’t be sure. But I’ll give Bloc Hotel the benefit of the doubt because it is clean, it is modern, and for what they charge, it sort of works. Just don’t expect a window—or a dry bathroom floor.
