We booked two nights here as part of a touring holiday. My partner stayed years ago and wanted stay again. Reception, bar area and dining room are all nicely decorated, the corridors and our room are a bit tired. (Looked nothing like the modern rooms on the web site). The bed was comfortable and the room and en-suite were clean. The staff were nice and they couldn't do enough for me when I asked about gluten free, the food was delicious. Breakfast is buffet style, help yourself and we were informed we could have poached or fried eggs if wished. We enjoyed our stay and to be fair we didn't pay a huge amount for B&B. It was much better than a dearer hotel we paid for. I'd go back.

Stayed at this hotel on the night of our wedding. There was a Christmas function on at the same time. (We didn’t have our wedding at this venue) it’s very pricey for what you actually get. We had ok food, but we had to remind them twice about a drink order. Our room (King James) was freezing and they did give us a storage heater which warmed us up eventually. There was enough for one coffee each and we found rubbish underneath the bed. My partner pulled back the duvet which exposed the duvet underneath the sheets to find it was disgusting and stained. We ended up sleeping fully clothed. All in all not a great experience, the staff were mostly friendly and helpful but certainly wasn’t worth the money we paid to stay.

Beautiful exteriors with beautiful grounds interior needs a lot of money spent on it plus breakfast is a no no daughters wedding day there chapel beautiful room decorated beautifully food ok great day

Wow, what a fantastic place to stay, a very historical building in the grounds of a country park.We had travelled 350 miles on a Friday, they had a wedding booked and we were a little worried about any noise but our room was tucked out of the way, very quiet and in our own wing, we didn't hear any noise from the disco at the wedding. Evening meal was lovely and the breakfast had a lot of choice and was very tasty. We had our puppy with us and even though they have dog designated areas which is a great idea, our puppy is a little excited so I asked if my husband could have his breakfast in our room, the gentleman was very obliging and nothing was too much trouble. The following evening we had our evening meal in our room, which was a great plus for us. Our room was clean and had a lovely view over the rose garden, bathroom was clean and plenty of towels. The staff were friendly and very helpful and it was a very delightful stay for two nights. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that the shower wasn't very quick to warm up, I understand that the building is old and the hot water takes time to travel through the pipes, the second morning we put the shower on earlier so it had time to warm up. Would definitely stay here again and totally enjoyed our stay as it was so peaceful.

Did not stay here but stopped for a pint. After a bike ride lovely views from the back. Could only imagine what the view looks like from a room.
