I purchased my 2017 cooper s from barretts mini canterbury yesterday - after first viewing the car last saturday. A very plesant experience from start to finish with regular updates via phone and email. Neil and Alistar couldn't of been more helpful, fully reccomended dealership
TL;DR: Barretts is not our local dealer and about 70 miles away from us, but they had a Mini JCW that was too good to pass up. Absolute pleasure dealing with varying staff across different areas at Barretts. Erin Lee, Kieron Farmer, Alistair Curd and Mark Pollard are absolute pleasures to deal with and by far the best buying experience I've had. There was a small issue with our car after we bought it and it was easily rectified under warranty without any difficulty. I enquired about a Mini JCW back in August for my girlfriend with the caveat that when she passed her driving test, we would make a visit to view and hopefully buy if everything checked out. The sales person I dealt with Erin Lee was totally understanding of this and allowed me to reserve the car for a short extended period of time compared to normal to take this into account as it was a car we really wanted. Unfortunately things with the test didn't go to plan and we couldn't visit and put the plans on hold, again something Erin understood and the refund of the reservation fee was easily arranged. We then decided to come and see the car anyway as it was a car we really wanted, with a view to buy and Erin was a pleasure to deal with. She was able to arrange a viewing/test drive at fairly short notice and was not pushy at all throughout the process. I asked a fair number of questions and requested all sorts of documents from Erin which she happily provided other dealers were not as forthcoming. The car was as described, everything checked out and we left a deposit and collected the car the following week pending a paint scuff being repaired. Alistair Curd was a pleasure to deal with when arranging the finance. Once we collected the car, I took it to an intendent garage to confirm everything was all well underneath the car as there were some areas covered by the undertray that we couldn't see on our initial checks. Unfortunately they found a very small oil leak, this is nothing against Barretts and was easily missed, no issue to us as these things happen, I notified Barretts Mini, Erin was away and I was given details for Mark Pollard, again, absolute pleasure to deal with. The car was booked in without quibble and repaired under the warranty. I would highly highly recommend Barretts, all of the staff there are a pleasure to deal with, they're understanding to personal situations, there's absolutely no pressure to buy a car from them and if there is an issue, it's easily rectified.
Beautiful cars, amazing office, brilliant and all smiling faces.. %worth visiting to buy a mini for the missus. Noticed a red Tesla next door with licence plate KINKY. Think I still prefer a mini any day. The drive is always an experience that wants you asking for more. They have so much power and grit. They say big things come in small packages, not this lovely car. it does big things!!
Following on from our review of Barrett’s BMW, we would like to comment on Barrett’s Mini. What can I say? The philosophy at Mini is exactly the same as the BMW dealership, unsurprising as both are Barrett’s, welcoming all customers coming through the door with dignity and respect unlike several other premium brand dealers. We have and are currently dealing with Kevin Grant. As my wife says, what a lovely man. We popped in to test drive the Mini Hatch 3/5 door as a down size from the Countryman only due to it being a little too large for my wife. We saw Kevin yesterday 21/8/21 and were welcomed like old friends, albeit our first meeting. All needs were discussed and Kevin explained everything to my wife in very easy going manner, pros and cons, taking full consideration of our needs. Kevin is an true asset to Mini and again a forthright salesman,where nothing is too much trouble, a rare occurrence these days but Barrett’s Mini and BMW seem to have corned the market.There were no pressure sales and you could genuinely see that Barrett’s Mini, Kevin, wanted the right car for us. We eventually settled on a Mini Hatch, placing the order yesterday and despite only dealing with him over the phone, Mark Pollard was extremely helpful arranging the finance and answering all questions posed thoroughly and thoughtfully. We are popping into the dealership tomorrow to confirm the order spec and taking our son to see the cars but we can genuinely say that we are looking forward to seeing Kevin and then further down the line collecting my wife’s new car. As I mentioned with our BMW review, if you need a Mini, pop in and see them, especially Kevin. If work takes us to the other end of the country, as it has done, if we wanted another Mini, I would have NO hesitation in driving back to deal with them. Added today I would also like to make further comment of Kevin. Today we popped into the dealership to amend a few details regarding our Hatch order, he could not have been more helpful, nothing being too much trouble but what touched us was the way in which he handled our son. He is 4 but absolutely obsessed with cars and having him with us today, was in his element. Despite being extremely busy, Kevin took the time to show him around a Mini convertible, sat him in the drivers seat, operate the roof and showed him around the engine and boot. We are not talking a 5 minute wonder but spoke to him on the same level and with as much enthusiasm as if he was buying the car. This again, highlights Kevin's character.
Appalling service. Rang Barrett’s to purchase a new mini. Spoke to Kevin, really helpful, at first, promised to ring back by the end of the day. Received a further call from Bryany who said she had received my enquiry. I said I had already spoken to Kevin and she said ok I will speak with him. No return call by the end of the day. Rang Barrett’s the following day and asked to speak to Kevin. Bryony came to the phone and informed me she had taken over my enquiry as Kevin was now off for a period of time. Went through everything with her, again, and she said she would ring me back by the end of the day. No return call yet again. My husband has bought all his BMW’s from Barrett’s and also my son bought his wife’s mini from them so I was keen to buy my car through the same dealership. Not any more. I had said I did not mind waiting the 6 - 8 months lead time, but what terrible service. Barrett’s clearly not interested.
Myself and my wife had amazing service from the sales executive Emily, such a professional and polite lady, sadly didn’t have the right car for us to buy, but she gave us an amazing knowledgeable experience…. Great work Emily and thank you !
A great service from Barretts MINI Canterbury. The MINI dealerships work as a franchise, so after putting in several queries on different used Mini's in different locations, Erin got back in touch promptly the next morning with an introductory video to say hello. Communication was personable and forthcoming, and followed up with a personalised video of the car, which was really helpful as we were 80 miles away from the dealership. Never before did I anticipate buying a car before seeing it in person, but before the day was over the deal was done and we have no regrets. The excuse for a drive over to Canterbury was also an unexpected treat. Thanks again, Erin and Barretts MINI Canterbury.
The level of service I received was excellent. Staff were friendly, extremely knowledgeable & kept me informed during all stages of the buying process of my Mini. A very happy customer & highly recommended.
I test drove the countryman last Thursday with my wife and the service I got From Kieron Farmer from start to finish was nothing short of exceptional, very knowledgeable and informative which helped with my decision. Although I wont be coming back for a few months until I have sorted finances he was brilliant throughout and actually listened to us creating a package that will work beautifully. He's a Credit to the company, what a great service.
