Excellent accomodation, very clean and welcoming. Very old world atmosphere. The staff are amazing, going above and beyond to give a great customer experience. Food brilliant, varied menu and served piping hot and plentiful. A credit to the hard work by Dean, Jade and the chef....
Tasty and large roast dinner, mulled wine and atmosphere great after the Christmas fayre in the nearby square. Will definitely return for more. Only bad point was being overcharged at £17.95 each instead of the £14.95 on the menu but this was explained as a till mistake on another review.
This place has come one leaps and bounds since it's reopening. The ambiance is phenomenal. You'd be hard pressed to find a more olde worlde pub. It's simply beautiful. The ale was good. Not the best busy not the worst... The locals are friendly and the prices are reasonable. Great pub and good to see it back in regular action.
We took mother and father in law here for a meal for her birthday a couple of weeks ago. I'd rung and booked a table but needn't have bothered as there was plenty of room. My husband and I wash had a starter, I had the prawn cocktail and my husband had the chicken strips, for main 3 of us had a roast and husband had the pie, for desert my mother in law had some ice cream and my husband had a hot sponge of some kind I can't remember. All the food was delicious and piping hot. We had a bottle of wine and some beers between us and the bill came to around £120. Was very yummy. The pub is very old and is decorated accordingly and the service was fab. I didn't use the facilities whilst we were there.
Very good hosts and excellent Sunday lunch advertised at £14.95. Not until we got home found we were charged £17.95. Apart from that it's well worth the visit
Drove into Elham today and was so pleasantly surprised at the beautiful building of the Abbots Fireplace. Even more surprised at the ambience of the inside. Decided just to have a sandwich. Best fishfinger sandwich ever with lovely salad and perfect service. Will be back
This place is like a medieval banquet hall. On walking in you are greeted by a small bar area which then opens up to a large space filled with swords, muskets, amour and the most amazing fire place.
Lovely pub. Really great interior, great food and exceptional service. Food & drinks: Great pub with great food and exceptional service. Would highly recommend.
Such a lovely pub with great character, friendly staff and tasty food. Can’t wait to go back on our next visit!
