In the last 2 years I have stayed at the YHA Holland park twice. On both occasions with large groups of young, noisy , overexcited Chinese children. The first time was for one night and we liked it so much that we used it as our base on our second trip when we stayed for a week. It is in an ideal location close to all the attractions that children visiting London need. When travelling with large groups more than 30 children location is very important. It is close to both Kensington High Street and Earls Court underground stations. It is also close to the Museums in and around Exhibition Road. So it gets top score for location although that is not one of the criteria above. It is a very old building with all of the aspects that come with that. It is not a modern hotel but it has everything you need when travelling with a group. There were some small issues , such as, leaking taps but that did not inconvenience us in the least but , generally the place needed a handyman to go around and check that everything was working well. We had 2 rooms which slept 20 children in each and the leaders had their own rooms. The facilities were what you would expect in a hostel. It does not have WIFI in the dorms which would have been nice but they do have it in the main building for which you have to pay. If we had had WIFI in the dorms I would have given it an "excellent". The staff at the hostel are friendly and helpful. They can arrange trips for you , if you wish, or they can advise you how to book events yourself if that is what you want. The 2 meals a day were more than adequate and the kitchen staff were very cooperative when we wanted to change our choice of meals after we arrived. Overall it was a friendly professional place to stay with our large groups of children. There were other groups staying there as well from many different countries and everyone seemed to be happy and enjoying their stay there.
The only good thing about this hostel is the location but the picture of the hostel does not coincide with its "real appearance." There is nothing good about this hostel, it is dirty and unorganized. It is difficult to get in to your room considering that you're actually sharing it with other people. The staff is not very friendly. I got the impression that they did not treat us right because we don't look like we have money, so sad....really!
A hidden gem in central London not too far from Westfield and Notting Hill Gate. The forests are a delight to walk through however the highlight is definitely the Kyoto Gardens which are beautiful and tranquil with free roaming peacocks and herons.
Hard to find a better location for a hostel in central London. Located inside Holland Park away giving you a English countryside feel in the middle of London.
I remember very well stay there. Clean and nice! Staff very helpful. I don't understand your bad opinion. No matter, I recommend!
Good facilities good location. But the people are not so friendly. One of the room I was in was really smelly
Best park in the city!
One of my favourites.
