Locals pub with a quirky interior and equally quirky welcome. Cask ale is to the fore with up to six real ales always on offer, plus a real cider. Saved from extinction a few years ago by a buyout by local people interested in saving this gem for others to enjoy. Undergoing a slow but gentle refurbishment to save the structure of the building and make it weather-tight. On Stockport County match-days, hot pies and peas are available. Recommended. Best real fire in Stockport, and possibly Manchester...

Absolutely wonderful pub. Friendly service good ale and bags of character. And the no swearing policy is a stroke of genius

Almost a textbook definition of idiosyncratic, this is a simply marvellous pub. You can expect the beer offering (cask) to focus on the pale side of things and the condition of the beers is excellent. There is an abundance of little artifacts that help to make this place (by no means a big pub, yet no worse for that) unique and the bar is a classic of its type. It's also adjacent to Stockport station and the music selection will throw up a nice mixture of classic songs and a bit of cheese.

BEST BEER, nicest regulars around the bar and an all round welcoming home from home. Full of character and very well run place.

Nice little pub. The beer is a bit expensive though at £4 a pint.
