The pub atmosphere was really tasteful, the place was so big you could easily get lost trying to find the restroom! Overall a great experience, do try the platter with the sweets, that cheesecake was amazing! Sunday roast with chicken was much appreciated as well.
I booked a table of seven for my birthday but wasn't a issue when an extra person turned up, quickly laid another table setting. We ordered are drinks which did take a short while to arrive but once they did they taken are food order, we ordered some starters, they arrived in good time, apart from mine which arrived after everyone had finished. The mains turned up mix of steaks and roast dinners, my girlfriends roast pork wasn't the warmest, so sent it back no problems but it came back out quite quickly cold again not sure why, it was taken off the bill and given a dessert complimentary. The overall everyone was happy and the quality of the food was very good
Came here for Sunday lunch and I have to say it is one of the best pub meals I’ve had in a while. A lot of country pubs have gone down hill recently especially food quality and customer service but the Ye Olde Saracens Head didn’t disappoint! Went for the crispy squid, pil pil prawns and beef ragu arancini to start. All were delicious and a good sized portion. All of us went for the roast as it looked lovely. We had 3 racks of pork and one beef sirloin. Wow, one of the best roasts I’ve had. Plenty of veg and gravy and the meat was lovely and tender and really tasty. The pork had a nice fennel marinade and came with crackling. The beef was so soft and melt in the mouth. Yorkshire pudding nice and crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy in the middle. The waiter can’t remember his name was lovely. So friendly and accommodating and really made our dining experience. We were sat right outside the entrance to The Den and booked a table at 2pm on 03/07/22. Just to give him some recognition will definitely be back again!
Ye Olde Saracen's Head is an incredible place with delicious, fresh, and amazing food, with the most wonderful team working throughout. My wife and I had our first date here in March 2018, I then proposed here in August 2019 a proposal which wouldn't have happened in the way that I imagined if it wasn't for the team working and communicating with me for months running up to it to help organise things!, and we had our wedding day meal here in December 2022. We had our 'big day' cancelled 3 times over the course of 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, so we decided to cut our losses and have a small, intimate day that we could organise and put together even if pandemic restrictions were still in place. From the first point of contact all the way through to the day itself, Chloe communicated with us a lot! via email and phone to get everything in place - we were able to arrange table plans, decorations, menu choices for guests, have guests sorted onto different tabs, and so much more! Chloe just couldn't do enough to help us have the most magical day possible, and considering it wasn't the 'big day' we had planned previously, it was quite honestly perfect, and that is in large part due to the Saracen's Head, all of the staff there, and the incredible food that was served. To put things into perspective, most tables at Ye Olde Saracen's Head are for 4-6 guests, whereas we had 32 guests in total on our day we had around half the restaurant to ourselves and none of our guests had the same combination of starter, main and dessert. So, this was a huge undertaking for the staff and yet everything was seamless, every single guest commented on both how delicious and fresh their food was, and how endearing the general ambience of the venue was. Thank you so much to everyone at Ye Olde Saracen's Head, and a special thank you to Chloe for all of your tireless work to ensure our day was beyond all expectation. You definitely have customers for life from us and all of our guests!
First time here and didn't disappoint. Really nice place inside and out, had the baked camembert and then the 16oz Argentinian rib eye. Cooked perfectly. Will definitely return
A beautiful location to drop off for food and drink. The location is beautiful and the prices are decent. The food was full of flavour and served to the temperature I like my food to be. The staff were so friendly. They couldn’t do more. They all went above and beyond by making me feel welcome and being very social. Joe, Michael and Josh were polite and seem very passionate about service. The manager, John, was great too. Friendly and service to a 10! Thank you to you all for making my journey worth while. I will be visiting again
We had a very enjoyable visit and meal on our latest visit. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the real fire and the general ambiance is great. The staff are excellent and do a great job. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the food was excellent. We had our 4 year old with us so the kid's menu, colouring sheet and crayons were much appreciated! I don't want to present this as a negative but for sake of offering some constructive feedback, we were missing a part of 2 our main orders but this was taken care of when we got the attention of a staff member and also, if it's possible to check on the table just a little more frequently for extra drinks and perhaps clear empty glasses when in between then that would be a bonus. But we appreciate that staff are busy so it's not intended as a criticism of the hard working team all of who were very welcoming, friendly, attentive and professional. The Saracens is a great pub with a great offering, it's a pleasure to visit - keep up the great work and be back soon!
This place is always a go-to no brainer when I’m looking for a good meal, or specifically, a good steak! The peppercorn sauce here is my favourite compared to other restaurants i’ve been to and the staff are always friendly! Would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a good meal, I look forward to trying more things on the menu this place has to offer in the future
Excellent atmosphere, menu and service. Shout out to waitress Lois who was helpful, cheerful, intuitive, knowledgeable and polite, what a lovely young lady ! It is a bit expensive, but unfortunately a sign of the times, I understand. Food was beautifully presented and tasty. Drinks were a little slow but a minor point. Will be back. Came last in the summer at lunch and had a lovely fish finger sandwich .
Fantastic. Food was lovely and despite the fact we were a large booking 16 the team there made us feel relaxed and as though everything was under control. Our server Lexi was outstanding. Friendly, interacted with our kids, happy, chatty, constantly checked on us and nothing was too much trouble for her. She made our day
