Thank you wings, had a great time visiting you yesterday. The staff were not just friendly and welcoming but also extremely knowledgeable about the birds and creatures in their care. To the uninitiated it may look overgrown, but when the reasons for the natural planting is explained, that they are nesting & breeding, you realise that this establishment understand the animals they have rescued and care for. My 3 year old had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed holding conversations with the cockatoos & parrots, she wanted to go back today!
Although Wingz in not the largest animal sanctuary we have ever been to you can feel how much the owners care for the birds and animals as soon as you walk through the door. We were met by Swoops, a hand reared Eagle owl, still mostly a ball of fluff but just starting to show his adult feathers. The other residents all had their tales to tell, being rescued for the most part. The work the family do with these animals is exceptional and having chatted with them they have a wealth of knowledge to pass on to the upcoming generations. Please support them by visiting. They are a small concern and rely on visitor funding so every visit to them counts towards the welfare of the animals and birds in their care.
An amazing place, shame it's closing it's doors to general public soon. Knowledgeable staff, birds kept in enclosures designed to give them the ability to show natural behaviour. A large selection of exotic birds and and a good few mammals too! Also get yourself a Meerkat experience, they are great!
Warm welcome and family friendly with a natural environment which the birds and animals enjoy. The owners were very friendly and clearly love their birds and animals and were more than happy to talk and explain things to us. The sanctuary is a credit to them. Will definitely visit again.
Disgusted at how bad this place is was completely overgrown and saw massive rats running around ! The poor birds were losing their feathers and cages looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The poor kangaroo had nowhere to run because it was so overgrown with brambles. Also no water for the animals the ducks were sitting in a patch of mud, the racoon dogs toilet area looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months it stank! Please keep young children away from this horrible place
Went there today and was disgusted how over grown it was. Think the birds must struggle to fly and stretch there wings. Constantly had to duck trying to avoid the overgrown trees above. Wouldn't pay to go again. Not happy at all. Our two year old couldn't see any birds as too overgrown and wasnt for him.
Went last year and for the money it is great value for money and great to see the freedom the animals are given, meerkats are so lovely and it's fantastic the energy the staff have for the animals, as regards the negative review she's best ignored on the grounds she expects a small, almost self sufficient sanctuary to be perfect for her no doubt perfect self !! Keep up the good work Wingz
Anita and Grenville work so hard to give birds and animals a chance at a lovely life - free of hardship and they do a grand job. Wingz has been going for three years now and with the help of local people is getting better and better. This year there are baby meerkats just born, last year baby marmosets. You know when animals are happy!! There is a lovely walk around all the enclosures, and you can feed the meerkats. Up by the entrance is a great space to eat and play. Wingz deserves to be visited and shows how dedication to birds and animals is worthwhile. Thank you Anita and Gren.
What a lovely place to visit! Lovely atmosphere and it's great to see that the owners are trying to keep to a habitat that's as natural for birds and animals as possible! Keep up the good work folks!
Lovely place.Friendly staff. Great selection of birds,meerkat, wallabies, and other small animals. Educational talks given and yummy food in the cafe. Go and enjoy your day.
