We used this car park at the weekend apart from taking time finding a space on what was a very busy day we had no issues with the parking, tariffs sign posted clearly and if you use the app you can add extra time if you decide you need a longer stay. Lots of nice walks around the lake, the caves are a bit of a walk but very impressive, and dont forget to take a towel and have a dip.
Great walk with not many hills and easy footing around the lake. A few places not buggy friendly but can lift if yours is light enough. Great for dogs!
Means to an end... You want to visit a beautiful place, you have to get there, so you need to park. Expensive! And popular... So the dog poo bin was overflowing. Great that people pick up, especially in such a busy area with dog walkers and people with young kids... But a shame that some of the really steep parking fees couldn't go to emptying the bin more often.
Better than expected after reading the reviews! Very busy car park at 2pm in August but found a space, quite tight and muddy. The ticket machine seems newer and takes in registration details, price was high but the walk was very good. The nearby toilets are very dirty, maybe only for emergencies! Lot's of reviews mention parking fines so kept a hold of my ticket/receipt and no fine yet..
Avoid this car park!! Parking fines are a scam, we didn't even end up staying in the car park due to heavy rain and poor signal meant couldn't access the app to download and pay so we left, a week after holiday get a £100 parking fine as it clocks you driving in and out. Absolutely shocking
Keep an eye on what goes out of your account when paying contactless. The car park itself is fine and actually in a great place for a beautiful walk. The company on the other hand are awful. I was charged 4 times when tapping my card to pay for parking. When I got hold of the company I was told it's nothing to do with them. Now having to go through my bank for the money back.
RIP OFF! Very expensive car park! £5 for 2 hours. We tried to use the app, but poor reception. We only had cash for 2 hours, so when back we had to rush! Due to poor weather it was not easy, so we end up back 25 min later, and of course we just received the ticket! £60 for 25 minutes, unbelievable! We didn't see any sign telling us how long it was taking to the cave. Absolutely disappointed! Such a shame as the walk was really nice!
Long queue to pay parking. The machine defaulted to 24 hours twice. Paid for extra time on returning to my car. I put in correct time and was charged 4 hours. I have been charged £60 for unpaid time despite two tickets of proof that I paid for 6 hrs. Please take care with your payments. I appealed but failed and you cannot talk to anyone unless its for payment of the charge.
This is a great place to park for a walk round the back of the lake and into the hills even on a wet day
They certainly know how to charge a premium for a good location. This used to be free to national trust years ago. Now at a minimum charge of £5 for 2 hours £2.20per hour thereafter, I hope your not intending on staying all day!
