We were really pleased with the staff and the meals we received at the inn. Matt was really polite and had a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding area. We were suggested this place from the book in our B&B which was full of positive reviews. The menu was still for spring 2022, but we enjoyed everything we saw on that and the specials board. We had a two course meal and weren't disappointed in the slightest. The food was lovely and the ales and beers brilliant. Size of the mains were medium but filling and you could add chips to all your meals for 99p. The pub was cold which I know a lot of reviews are saying, but that's the energy crisis for businesses right now. The chef was friendly and so was Matt. We will for sure be coming back, not just for the dogs either!!
Fantastic little pub for food and refreshments. Especially after a long hike on the fells. It’s dog friendly they even have free dog biscuits. Staff are very friendly and polite. Definitely recommend visiting here. 10/10 for service.
Long pub at the edge of Patterdale. Good selection of ales and lager. Lots of seating and crammed with quirky signs and paraphernalia. Rough and ready staff but friendly and hard working. Pub grub menu and food OK but not wonderful.
Great Patterdale pub, friendly staff lots of nooks and crannies to sit in to enjoy the excellent beer. This is not your standard chain pub, it has a bit of character. This is reflected in the decor. Lots of ornaments and amusing signs to read.
Good for a nice place to chill after a day on the hill’s, staff are friendly and attentive. The food was very nice 2 days in a row. Football on the TV but we can’t blame them for Spurs loosing all in all a great experience
Just the kind of pub you want to 'discover' in the Lake District. Good choice of beers, friendly staff, lovely food. Can even get take away draught in two pint containers. Loved it!
Amazing food and drink friendly atmosphere just what I needed after a 27mile hike
The place has a nice homely feel and is a reasonable price. The food is OK our meal for four was OK, Burger, good although the cheese was missing. Fish and chips, OK but fish greasy Stew tasty but vegetables not drained and we're wet Belly pork, decent and tasty!
Wonderful pub with fantastic friendly staff. The perfect place to relax and rehydrate after a day walking on Helvellyn. Particular grateful to John for looking after us so well
Pub is run down, smells awful.. no food coz they couldn’t be bothered … not that I would eat there coz the kitchen and pub itself smelt so bad!!! Do not run a pub if you can’t be bothered!! Just saying
