Construction of an infirmary started in 1900 and was completed in 1903. Designed by Francis Sturdy, the former main entrance is in the style of a northern Renaissance town hall. Unfortunately had to use children's A & E lately and staff etc were fantastic. Friends have also said the same when they have used this service. Took someone to adult a & e and again fantastic apart from long waiting time which was no refection on the brilliant staff that work extremely hard and were so friendly and helpful. Really appreciate having this hospital nearby. Thank you.

Waited 3 hours with suspicion of a stroke to see a nurse and told we would wait 4-5 hours more to see a doctor. Told it wasn’t serious because I could move my arms around. This hospital is the worst I’ve been too, people who came 3 hours after me were seen before me. Appalling, would rather drive further and go to a different hospital as even if it’s a few hours away, I’d be seen and dealt with quicker.

Probably the worse hospital in the world. The staff are great but they seem overworked and simply cannot deal with the work load. Not enough beds and no one has time. Have gone to the A&E 4 times in 5 days because they cannot diagnose the issue for my 17 month old baby and he is not improving. Each time we are having to wait in excess of 3-7 hours. On Saturday night the place was so overcrowded people in serious conditions were being told that they would have to wait another 2 hours after they had already waited 5 hours to see a doctor. Whatever the government's plans with this hospital are they should not be playing with people's lives and treating people like animals. Although I have noticed that my dog gets much more efficient and humanely service when he goes to the Vet. Great staff but terrible service, try and avoid at all cost. It's more like factory from the 1800s than a hospital. The only thing I am wondering at the moment is why have this nation let it get this bad?

A Victorian rambling hospital though modernised. Respiratory Medicine is excellent and sent me for a lifesaving operation and have checkups every 6 months. On the other hand I was admitted to Urology, caught an infection there which caused serious complications which made me on antibiotics for 4 months, nasty nasty ward. Services like x-rays,scans,cardiac, nuclear medicine etc are excellent.

My fiance had her ankle operation there. The staff was helpful and everything was perfectly fine now with her leg afterwards. She had her hydrotherapy there. Everyone was helpful and we would like to tell a huge THANK YOU to all the staff there.
