I would like to thank Rob for saving Chester my bunny tonight after I noticed flystrike!! I rang in hysterics begging to be seen straight away as it must be caught within hours. Within 20 minutes of calling Chester was in with Rob being assessed. A tense 40 minutes but Rob saved him I can't thank him enough. We now Chester home with us and some medication and a follow up appointment. I honestly didn't think I would walk out of the surgery with Chester alive!!! Thank god for my own knowledge of flystrike too!! Also for the girls on reception who were great keeping me calm. Always been great with all of our bunnies, fantastic care. Thank you so much from Ruby, Chester's wifebun and soul mate too. She would be lost without him.
The vet performed a thorough check-up on my dog to make sure there were no complications after choking on the treat. They provided the necessary care and attention to ensure my dog's well-being. It was such a relief to hear that my dog got the all clear! , the two lady's on reception and vets where absolutely amazing friendly and understanding as I was in such a panic. Big thanks the everyone at westway vets Houghton!!
I have two dogs under the care of west way vets, I have visited the Houghton site throughout the last 5 years and the care my two dogs have received has been amazing. I can call the surgery with any concerns and can have an appointment usually for the same day. The staff are so friendly and have kept me reassured throughout some worrying times with my dog and provided outstanding care throughout. I almost changed vet surgery due to distance when the Seaham branch closed but I honestly would not go anywhere else after the support they have provided and are worth their weight in gold. My dog actually pulls is into the vets when we go even after having surgeries here and loves all the staff!
Another useless Vets who will turn you away because they have more important "regular customers" to deal with who are more worthy of their time. I was literally just told "it would take an hour and a half to deal with you, its not worth our time, we have more important existing and loyal customers to see."
Extortionate!! Westway want to charge me £1200 to have my dogs dental work done, put my dog under, descale her mouth and remove some loose teeth. Before I left the surgery they charged me £93 for the 10 min consultation and some antibiotics. So in all the total bill will be near £1300, personally I thought the vet I saw was more of a sales person than a vet, when she was reeling off the costs and the 'optional extras' she even tried to scare me into buying these 'optional extras' stating my dog was a 'higher risk' if I didn't purchase them. Shocked by the whole experience, will be trying a different vet.
Very prompt and friendly service. My kitten was very nervous remembering his first visit and made a bid for freedom but is was all in a day's work for the vet. I was even escorted to my car via the back door as the waiting room was full of dogs.
My dog and been poorly for couple of days. Rang yesterday and managed to get in later that afternoon....vet was lovely and understanding. Ladies on reception also very helpful. Shes lots better today. Thanks so much..... Louise , Caras mam
Always concerned for pets. Now a lot of patients by name Always helpful and courteous very good at problem solving. I’ve always had appts., repeat prescriptions and enquiries all sorted with no fuss Always pleasant even when busy. Great team
Great experience from start to finish. Excellent reception Staff, very happy to see us. Vet was fantastic even though my dog decided he was scared this time; Vet was on the floor with cuddles and kind words during the entire visit. Can not recommend this practice highly enough and have done exactly that with friends and family already. Looking forward to seeing them again for the dental work needed; going to be in the new practice building in Houghton le Spring.
We had our beloved Winston put to sleep on the 16/06/23. The Vet and staff were so understanding and sympathetic and we can't thank them enough. .
