Good old pub which retains original features. The fire has been going continuously for 177 years now used to be peat, but now logs. Good selection of beers and food. Plenty of seating indoors and a nice view of Dartmoor out the windows. Friendly staff.
This is a pub in its purest form. Warm and welcoming staff with a great choice of drinks and pub grub - much needed after hiking around the local Tors. The building feels very retro, especially inside, with a lot of original features which gives the pub a certain charm. The views from the outdoor seating area are stunning. Definitely worth a visit!
Great country pub and a fantastic place to start or finish your ramble across Dartmoor. Friendly team serving well kept good beer, good food, in a warm environment complete with a log fire that has apparently been burning since 1845! Parking is along the moor road, or in car parks a short walk away… well worth driving out to!
Absolutely epic. Mind=blown. Lovely view, great cask ale, and our server was informing us about some of the bronze-age history of Dartmoor. I've visited many, many pubs in the UK over my 4 visits so far, and this one is defo in my top 3.
A real no nonsense pub. Ramblers, dogs, children, the works, all welcome. A good range of beers and ciders, honest no nonsense, very tasty pub grub. A 150 year old fire, a bleak and rugged view, what's not to like.
Lovely pub in Dartmoor. Popped in for a bite to eat. Two log fires, dogs welcome, a family space and also has a quieter area. Lovely views of Dartmoor, inside and outside of pub. Tasty food. I had the cheddar ploughman's and other half has the steak baguette and shared a portion of chips. Yummy! Thank you x
Nice pub high up on Dartmoor. Friendly staff and great food. Ideal if you like to do a bit of walking before or after your meal.
Had great long walk to waterfall we called on off chance for dinner, no problem they said. Lovely home cooked food, good size portions, great drinks range, log fire, classic old style pub snd great service! Mask needed, Perspex sectioning, they’ve gone to great lengths to try and keep everyone safe, we really appreciate lengths they go to and will be back!
Good food, nice arrangement of beers and a stunning view. Go visit and enjoy the hospitality in this warm and welcoming pub. Offering all the Dartmoor adventurer could want after a day on the moors.
Warm, friendly welcome with a fair selection of draught beers. Quite an extensive menu and specials selection. Cottage pie and rabbit pie were really tasty. Not many pubs like this around these days, more's the pity. If you want to go there I suggest you use Google maps and not the postcode.
