The food is excellent and the whole place has a lovely warm atmosphere - even on a rainy November afternoon. Really dog friendly and welcoming. The service was exceptional- we left my elderly in-laws in the pub whilst we walked the dogs and they were really well looked after. On our return we ate lunch and had a really good meal . The gentleman that looked after us was attentive and is a credit to the place. We are here on holiday but will certainly return next time we are in the area. Thank you for such a great experience.
Not eaten here as they hadn't had availability the 3 times we popped, so book in advance. Good for drinks, don't have a wide range of ciders. Lovely to sit outside, especially under the new outside covered areas with heaters - dog friendly!
It amazes me how a respected and enjoyed pub / restaurant loved my locals and those a far can go down down hill so much. By making the interior smarter and raising prices, definitely doesn't improve the food quality and the enjoyment of visiting this establishment. Visited the Burrator Inn for my mother's birthday and left very disappointed. If a pub / restaurant like this has to serve bought in frozen fish pies that they can't prepare correctly then maybe ditch the chef! 6 meals order 3 came out 45 minutes after ordering all of poor quality would honestly get better in wetherspoons. The other 3 which were all fish pies came out as fish and chips even after the waiter read our order to us before sending it to the kitchen they still couldn't get it right. When we got the fish pies 20 minutes later I was utterly disappointed and shocked at the quality looked like cat sick with burnt mash upside down. After talking to who I believe was the manager he admitted that they buy the fish pies in frozen metal trays and pour it in to another dish. To what I believe is they microwave the pie and stick it under the grill. Don't ask about the large sign that says special board ask your waiter because they don't do specials apparently. The Burrator Inn used to be such a great place to visit but please if you are reading this then don't visit as you will be disappointed especially when there are so many other decent restaurants and pubs to visit. Bring back the old Burrator Inn!!!
A busy pub restaurant on Dartmoor. Booking recommended during weekends. Friendly welcome from staff. Food was good, hearty English fare. Kids and dog friendly. Perfect place to visit after a walk in the Dartmoor National Park.
Neat pub very easy to reach from Plymouth. We came in a Sunday and the roast was fantastic and the desserts were great too. All the staff were really friendly and the toilets very clean. They even have free nappies in the disabled toilet/baby changing room.
The service was quick and the staff were all friendly. The pub itself was nice and clean, although the tables felt a bit sticky. The food however was over priced for what it was. I'm vegetarian and to have vegetarian roasties, Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese there was an extra charge of £3.50 per item. The roast we had was nice enough but again for the price the portion sizes were a bit stingy. I wouldn't go there again to eat but if I was passing and fancied a drink I might pop in.
Booked in for one night and wished we could have stayed a week. We were made extremely welcome by Mike and his staff, excellent food for evening meal and breakfast. A good large room with comfortable king size bed and all the bits and pieces. Good shower and fast broadband. Lots of thoughtful touches. Great location for the national park and even though the weather was very much against us, we managed a short walk at the reservoir and went on to explore Tavistock a little later. Will definitely visit again and explore the area further. Rooms: Spacious and well equipped. Fast wifi Nearby activities: All the national park on your doorstep, Burrator Reservoir and local towns Walkability: You could forget the car and go on a variety of walks from the inn. Food & drinks: Good selection of foods and drinks on menu whether wanting a snack or a full three course dinner
We went here for food, always used the pub for drinks, but decided to eat now it's been under new management/ownership but won't be eating here again. 2 vegan options listed in the menu, one was a typo so only one main option and it was a small warm salad with no protein. The soup starter came without bread unleavened flat bread is vegan! We questioned and eventually confirmed it was, but they were happy to leave stuff off our plate and charge the same money. Don't recommend for anything other than a drink.
Great place, great decision. Lovely location, great for post walk dinners, lunches and drinks. Service good as was the food. Portion size great at dinner particularly starters. Possibly needs a little modernisation in some of dining room areas.
Fabulous roast beef and pavlova for dessert. Warm and cosy. Helpful staff. Dog friendly. What's not to like - would definitely visit again soon.
