Just want to mention first that I do not blame any nurse or personnel on shift last night. But the urgent care department is appalling and dehumanising. I got there at around 11pm with sharp stomach pains that had me writhing for hours. First thing - I was told to wait for at least 3 hours to be seen. Then I was asked pee in a pot. I can't go because I'm dehydrated, so I ask for water. There is no water dispenser in the waiting room which I found pretty shocking. The chairs are rigid, made of plastic and are horrible to sit on so if you were not in enough pain already, you will be by the time you leave. In the end I said to my husband please take me home, this place is horrible and I cannot sit here until 3-4am. For the amount we pay in national insurance we deserve better than this. I have not been to A&E since I was a child so I didn't know what to expect. But this is just horrifying and should be looked into. I have called my GP today but it was a rough night to be sure.
I would highly recommend the EAU department at North Tees Hospital all the staff were absolutely brilliant when I visited on 20/10/2022. From the receptionists to the doctors I received excellent care in the unit and I was treated with dignity and respect throughout. I can’t thank them enough as they all were so organised and helpful. It was great to see all staff being hands on with all the patients. The unit was clean and tidy with a relaxed atmosphere considering it was 8pm at night. I truly respect the staff as they do an amazing job of looking after patients. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the care I received.
Dirty, disgusting and disorganised! My mum 83 was in and out of hospital over a period of approximately 6 weeks with the most severe diarrhoea. Hospital never found out the cause. Staff never talked to each other, to my mum or to her family. She was on a covid ward and was left unwashed for 28 hours with diarrhoea intensely bad. Her bottom was red raw but nobody looked at it to put a barrier cream on after eventually washing her. She was even made to sit on a commode for hours with her buzzer out of reach but in desperation, phoned me from her mobile to explain so I then had to phone the ward to demand that somebody went to see her!!!! On another occasion when she asked for the commode and assistance to get on it, she was shouted at by a nurse who got quite aggressive with my mum. When we complained to person in charge the next day, we were told that they knew who it would have been who acted like that and they would not be allowed back on the ward!!!!!! She is diabetic and I found out that the staff had 'forgotten' this fact and, once she was starting to feel a little better were giving her full access to everything on the menu including trifles, toast and jam etc etc - then wondering why her blood sugar levels were going up so high!! She was treated like a dog and lost a lot of weight 2.5 stone we now realise but the hospital had no idea how much as they had forgotten to record her weight! God help you if you are ever admitted
My son broke his wrist and we were in and out of the hospital within 1.5 hours. I have also been to see a specialist and everyone was really friendly and it felt very efficient. Great experience
We moved to Teeside just over a year ago and recently visited the hospital for minor surgery, the whole process from start to finish was professional, prompt and an overall very good experience. Even with the pressure the NHS is currently under this hospital seems to be running well. Keep it up folks, you’re doing a good job .
I was here for a minor operation before Christmas and had to stay overnight. All the staff involved in my care were professional and caring and tried to make my stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Everywhere I saw was clean and even the food was good!
My mother in law who is 80yr old,got took here recently. The staff were absolutely discusting. They kept her in for 4 days, with no monitors, nothing. No interactions,no checking on her, nothing. Not even as much as a bpm monitor on her finger . Visiting was 1pm till 8pm at first. Until they started putting rules in place that didnt exist. Like only 2 visitors and for hr a day. Basically they didnt want me the daughter in law, there. Asking questions. She was losing her mind ith hospital delirium and they were up yo something sinister. What a bunch pf scumbags they were, the young staff on emergency assessment. There were no doctors there. They lied saying hed been daily, sobi asked for paper. That are usually on the end of the bed. They didnt exist. We rang her gp for help, explained how desperate we were. An hour later she was out.
My mother was rushed into North tees a week ago, for me there was no communications in information on whereabout in hospital she'll be or if she is ok, staying in etc. No communications for me in regards of contacts. I am deaf, can't used phone other than texting or email. There's no such luck... Their excuses was not be able to. Least its was no problem for physio to contact me via text. So why can't the rest of them can? No contact details on the site either other than phone calls...... Worse place for anything, and im deaf at least I'd listens as best as I can. But not the entire hospital of North tees........
Sent to pointless appointments, letter did NOT SAY not not necessory to attend. Info only a waste of time .oney effort in the cold in pain and abused in public by nurse when i found it was not a necessary appointment its a HUGE WAST OF TIME FOR PEOPLE TO WALK IN PAIN ON A COLD WINTER DAY A COMPKETE FARCS
Just want to thank the maternity team. My daughter was admitted after a scan as our grandson had stopped going. She /we received amazing treatment /service. Midwives, theatre staff, anesthetic staff, heath care staff, Drs.... Absolutely everyone was kind, caring, professional and understanding. Making quite a worrying time for a first time mum a smooth and less stressful process. You were all amazing can't thank you enough. Both mum and baby doing very well. 21/05/22.
