I was diagnosed with ADHD last year, 44, and life has been a real struggle to say the least. I'm finally being listened to. Dr Ranson has been amazing, he listens, is proactive and I'm so grateful!
Psychological department Is brilliant. Reception team are lovely and helpful. Emma is great, easy to talk to, professional and helpful.
This service really lacks communication, they also ignore what the patient tells them. They have written things I didn’t say on my diagnosis letter! They got key facts mixed up. I told them my GP prescribed me medication but they said I told them Camhs did when I was 15, not true. They seem to not listen carefully to what you’re saying. They said there is no appetite issues yet in my initial assessment I told them I’ve gained 4-5 stone due to over eating! In my initial assessment I expressed and explained my symptoms and struggles, they didn’t take half of them seriously and didn’t even mention them in my diagnosis letter! Mainly the ones which were the most serious A nurse told me after my initial assessment, she would show the psychiatrist and med team then I’d get a diagnosis, I got a letter for another appointment no where did they mention I was being assessed, i was told I was going for a meeting about medication, when I got there they said I wasn’t being given any medication. I thought my initial assessment would determine my diagnosis as told by the nurse! They then ignored everything I told them in the initial assessment! They didn’t seem interested or caring, seemed like they wanted to rush it.
Waste of time! Got referred here by my GP after getting a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder and ADHD. Also suffer with Tourette’s syndrome, when I spoke with the doctor and mental health nurse I told them that my main problem was managing my tics and this was having a huge impact on my life, preventing me from doing my normal daily activities. I got referred to impact for counselling AGAIN after working with that service for over two years and they have not helped one bit. I also got prescribed antidepressants even though I did not even say I was depressed although I said I was heading in that direction if I didn’t find away to manage my tics due to the effects it was having on my life. I still haven’t had any help from impact and the referral was made over 6 months ago. I finally moved GP and they referred me to a movement clinic for habit reversal therapy to help manage my tics. I didn’t even know this was a thing and am really disappointed that they doctor I saw at Wessex house didn’t refer me to this a long time ago as I am now on medication for my ADHD/Tourette’s whilst I wait to be seen by the movement clinic and the medication is making me feel really low and depressed, even suicidal. They are extremely ignorant and seem to just refer everyone for counselling and put them on antidepressants. Place needs closing!
Been trying to get in touch with my social worker since march, they are refusing to help me and now won't even let me speak to those who can do something about my care. Receptionist speak over you and get annoyed and have slammed the phone down on me and then when I've called back they've picked up and and ended the call straight away. I'm without funding and my mental health is getting worse, all thanks to the lack of 'care' the ADT does. I am going to be writing to my local MP about this as they are now being abusive neglect
My partner has been with them since 2014 and they jave done absolutely nothing to help, the forced him off lithium and said they had different medication which was better but since then the so called specialist says she won't try anything new and we jave to go back to the gp, he was promised all sorts of help but has been given nothing, he has severe anxiety, depression and other mental and physical health problems but they don't care. This service if you can call it that is a joke and the people running it should be held accountable for what they put people and families through, we are now seeking legal advice as his care has been miss handled and modd treated from the beginning. I am also writing to our MP and PM to express my concern.
I had cbt and it didn't work i have big problem with sound and i become violent and panic i am suicidal and struggle throughout everyday and i was tilled to fill my day. i am sorry but filling my day doesn't fix me, the cbt didnt work and now they have cancelled my service because there treatment is finished now i back to square one, how has this helped me. please dont go here be referred somewhere else that can help my gp has started a new referral and i am now getting the help i need and has actually recognised my mental illness they tried to refer me back but i asked for some where else i hope people that are getting help here dont struggle with trying to get help here.
No help they say have no records of me yet was diagnosed with mental health problems 20 year ago. They are not mental health friendly at all as I had panic attacks and was told to man up
