So I went with my family for the carvery today for my son’s birthday and was very disappointed as had been told how nice it was . Firstly we had to wait for about 45 minutes before we could go up and get our food bearing in mind there was nobody else there . We assumed they were preparing nice fresh vegetables ., but were shocked when we got our dinners and everything and I mean everything was cold Will definitely not be returning.
We had been recommended to eat here. And we wasn't disappointed. The restaurant was decorated nicely. We enjoyed the variety of Gins on offer before our meal. We had a starter and and main course. We didn't have any more room for a dessert. As a family group we chose different meals and we thoroughly enjoyed the food we have eaten. The service was excellent and the staff very welcoming. We certainly will be back here the next time we're in the area.
Absolutely fantastic. Sunday roast was on point. Loads of meat. Parsnips are delicious, I don't even like parsnips. Everything made with love, not mass produced. Each thing on my plate had its own taste. Best sunday lunch I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend. Will definitely be back soon! Thank you!
Tremendous food and exceptionally friendly service. The food menu is varied and uses local produce too, and the drinks menu is extensive, especially gin. This is definitely worth a trip.
Really disappointed today. We’ve been a couple of times before, back in March and again in April and it was fantastic - best carvery we’d ever had. However today has been horrendous, gristly soggy meat and the veg was just awful. We were refunded for mine and my sons carvery and the person who served us was absolutely lovely and completely understanding. Just disappointed as this was our favourite restaurant, I don’t think we will be coming back unfortunately.
Visited with family for the first time post-pandemic and things have obviously gone down hill fast. I should have trusted my instincts and left when presented with a very very limited menu, lots of which was unavailable. It's now very obvious to me why they don't have a menu on their website. Food was very low quality and clearly not prepared with care. Very limited drinks selection with only one bitter available tiger. The interior is also starting to look tatty, with stained furniture and floors. It's a shame as this place used to be lovely. Definitely won't be returning unless there is a change of management.
Food is ok but service is terrible and wait times very long. Serving staff inattentive and disinterested. Waiting over an hour for food is unacceptable on a quiet lunch time
We had a rebooked table after an initial cancellation in September for my wife's 40th. Unfortunately when we arrived there was a wedding reception and our table had been cancelled without notice. Leaving us to find another place to eat. Such a shame as it was a nice place to eat but they seem to have sold out to a larger party. It would have been nice to have a call prior so we could make other arrangements.
Firstly let me start with our food was delicious, no fault there at all. The service however, completely different story. We hadn’t booked, so went in and asked if they could accommodate us 4 adults, 2 children the 3 waitresses huddled round a laptop took an extraordinary amount of time in a basically empty pub to seat us… then left us, no menus, no drink orders, nothing - after asking for them; orders were taken and the wait began… a long wait. Food came and as I said at the beginning, faultless. Then another long wait…we ordered dessert. At this point we have 2 children under 5; as you can imagine we’ve got pretty good at speed eating The waitress came over to tell us they will need us to vacate in 30 minutes as they need our table for another booking… we say that’s fine, if you bring the bill now we’ll pay so it’s a bit quicker - from this point we waited a further 20 minutes for our deserts to hit the table… we then could feel the eyes burning on us to move at some pace - we got up and left with a full 5 minutes to spare. But what happened next was the real kick… the same waitress who had been serving us then welcomed a couple to the table next to us as we were leaving - they got one of the warmest welcomes I’ve ever heard, a full introduction, menus and drink orders and even a cheery smile… at that point it was pretty clear they hadn’t wanted us to dine with them.
Always fantastic whenever we have visited, great pizza and great Sunday roast. Service is always good and great beer garden in the summer. Can't wait to revisit when Lockdown 2.0 finishes
