Potentially one of the best Sunday roasts out there! I opted for the trio, which included turkey, beef and pork belly. Everything was beautifully cooked, no tough meat at all, and full of flavour. You also got a very generous amount of vegetables and offered extra gravy. The staff are also very friendly and the service is brill. I have already recommended it to friends and will be back for another roast!
We won a competition here, from the moment we arrived it was great. The food was lovely, hats off to the chef and kitchen staff. The gin was flowing, great atmosphere. Service fabulous. Fiona is a great host..
The whole experience was absolutely brilliant, outstanding food, especially the turkey roast dinner and trio cheesecake dessert. We brought our 94 year old nan,and she was thrilled to bits. Lovely and warm and comfortable atmosphere. The welcome we first received when we arrived wasn't the most warmest, but I put it down to stress I guess. The food was beautiful, I was just expecting a tea or coffee with a mince to be including as a final course for £75 per person. But this is not a complaint in the slightest, just a comment. We will definitely be booking again. Thank you to the blonde lady, who runs the pub I believe, she looked after us so so well.
A surprise birthday party for our mum meant that we had to visit the Midlands and Nottingham. We chose a place near my mum's house as the venue had good reviews. We asked for a table for approximately 16 people, just close family and they offered us a side room. From our arrival to our departure the staff were all excellent and attentive to every detail. Nobody could say a bad word about any of our service. The manager was such a nice and friendly person who bent over backwards for our many requests, nothing was too much trouble. We had such a lovely meal together and it was worth the journey from Devon to be together as one family again with the treat of not having to cook or wash up. Even down to lighting our cake for us , the staff were lovely and kind to us all. I will definitely be going back there again soon with my mum. Highly recommended, 5 stars
Hidden little gem, great food amazing staff nothing was too much trouble. Homemade food is a rare thing in some pubs today everything we ordered was lovely definitely will be back. We had sirloin 8oz steak which was cooked to perfection and my husband had hunters chicken which he said was amazing too.
Lovely place with a great atmosphere Open fire and unique furniture Been twice for breakfast and dinner and both beautiful
First time visit for breakfast on a cold wet morning, nice quiet atmosphere with open fires - heading back for dinner soon!
Food and atmosphere is always amazing here! We come probably once or twice a month and it has never disappointed. I would especially recommend going for Sunday Lunch and if you have room at the end, the chocolate brownie!
+ Excellent friendly and accommodating staff + Good Location for my needs with plenty of free parking ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - I was allocated an 'internal' room with a frosted obscured window with no view of the outside world which we jokingly referred to as Cell#9 this despite the pub clearly not being busy with other rooms available. - The bathroom + although very clean was fitted with a small 'cloakroom' type sink located behind the opening door which was small enough to be obstructed by the shelf fitted above it and was impossible to use properly wash in. - Dinner on the second night of my stay was poor - in quantity starter and quality main - burger.
This was an amazing place. The landlord really cares about what you think and we got gold star service. The prices are reasonable and although there are a few teething problems the new landlord is absolutely on top of it and making the changes. I would definately recommend this place and would go back again myself. All the staff are lovely and helpful. Thank you, great service well done
