We haven't been here for years and thought we'd give it a try last night as we were staying at the marina so very convenient. Plus the menu looked good. We both had the cheesy mushroom starter and steak sandwich for main. It was amazing!! Such a good choice. Perfect evening all in all.
Spent my birthday afternoon here today. Drinks were good but sadly can't say the same about the food. Starters were good but the steaks and steak sauces were poor. I ordered medium rare sirloin and it was the smallest 8 oz I've ever seen as well as being at best cooked medium. I also ordered the peppercorn and blue cheese sauce and the portion size was ridiculous. It came in the standard sauce bowl and it literally just covered the bottom of the pot. We paid extra for this and we were disappointed. My friend's sauce portion was larger and covered about a quarter of the pot size still disappointing Puddings were missing the chocolate shards and nothing was said when they were delivered. Disappointing on the whole. Note to add. . . The pub gave me contact details to discuss this. . . G sent them 2 emails. No response!
We came for lunch and would come again. Friendly service, generous portions and good drink choices. Light open dining area with mixed seating. Very relaxing.
The food and drinks here are excellent but the young red headed waitress could really do with a bit more customer service training. Her mannerism can be a little abrupt usually, but on our last visit it actively seemed like she was avoiding customers and did not want to be there. We weren't ready to order on her initial call to the table and it took around 20 minutes for her to come back, then following our meal we wanted to get dessert but were left with the plates on the table for 30+ minutes, not asked how the food was or if we wanted dessert so we decided to just leave. My partner had to go fetch her to get the bill- she was just at the bar, staring into space, not even doing anything so I wonder why the service from her was so bad?
I booked a table for 14:00 on Sunday 06/11 when we arrived the car park was full not the pubs fault but pouring with rain had to park and walk back on arrival we were greeted in quite a terse sirly manner and confirmed our booking we were told to go to the bar and get a drink I suffer with arthritis and was wet so expected to be seated not wait nearly 20 minutes because the table was not ready, when we asked about the wait the response was its Sunday lunchtime and it's raining what do you expect my husband tried to tell the lady we were going to leave she can't have been listening she then followed us and said do you mind I was talking to you. The noise level and chaos did not portray a pleasant place to eat, unfortunate as we have used the pub in the past on many occasions
Good food and usually good service. Bit slow on the day we visited but it is usually good. Cater for Gluten free with a separate menu. Just make sure you don't get given chips as they are not gluten free.
Four of us went for an early evening meal. Service was a little slow but other than that enjoyed the experience. Atmosphere was welcoming, food was tasty and reasonably good value for money. Will return.
Had the Absolute fortune and privilege to spend NYE here. It was Brilliant. Food was excellent plenty choices DJ was Fantastic and the Staff couldn’t do enough to make our experience memorable
We had a drink Christmas day and was loosely greeted by someone who really didn't want to be there! I can understand that but you still have to make an effort!? The bar maid practically said ' yeah?' I wished her a Merry Christmas as I felt for her. But it spoilt our experience!! We went to add to the enjoyment of our day never been for a drink on Christmas Day before
Busy place , but due to food being really good this will happen. Family pub and owner sorts issues if any arise. Recently delt with owner and she was really helpful. Suggest Sunday lunch , best around.
