Twycross Zoo

About

Come to Twycross Zoo and bring out the animal in you!

Story

Twycross Zoo is renowned as a specialist primate zoo and has a wide variety of monkeys and apes including the UK's only group of bonobos.

We have breeding groups of many endangered primate species so we often have babies and toddlers playing around in our orang utan and bonobo groups, and in many of our monkey groups.

Set in more than 80-acres, we have around 650 animals of almost 150 species to see, including many endangered animals and native species in the Zoo's Nature Reserve.

You can walk with our ring-tailed lemurs in their new walk-through enclosure; see our giant tortoises sunbathing in their new grass area and watch our penguins take their daily walk.

Our keepers present regular talks and feeds where you can learn a bit more about some of our animals such as the chimpanzees, penguins and coatis.

We are open 364 days a year from 10.00am (we only close Christmas Day)

The Zoo is located only four-miles from junction 11 of the M42/A42 (which links the M1 and M6) making it readily accessible from anywhere in central England.

We offer free parking.

The place was great! most of the animals were visible and quite active which makes the experience even more enjoyable. They have a water area for little kids on hot days to cool down which i think was a great idea. My favourite part was the giraffes, as you can get pretty close and they are just beautiful. My only critique is the expensive drinks and snacks but that is expected in places like that to maintain the business.

Had a great day. Worth following on social media for offers on ticket prices, our visit today was due to half price offer. Good range of animals to look at and the vast majority of the enclosures are good sized and modern. We took a picnic but ample food stalls with average prices for this type of attraction. Gift shop was popular with out two kids and had a wide range of stuff ranging from pocket money prices. Worth a visit and we will be back in the future!

Went for the Easter offer staff were friendly it is muddy in places but that's to be expected so was surprised when I saw people walking round in what looked like brand new white trainers and even some people in beige trousers but hey each to their own. Lots of monkeys so bonus as my boy loves monkeys. Great opportunity to feed lorikeets. If it is a warm day take a towel and a change of clothes they have like a water part called wet and wild where the children can go in and cool off or in my case go in even if it cold glad I took a towel as I had been before and knew my boy would want to go in :)

This can be very busy around holiday times. But this isn’t surprising as its one of the top zoos in the country. It is a real nice educational experience for all ages, a good family day out. Rural location, excellent facilities and lots of good conservation work for endangered species.

It's a nice zoo had lots of new attractions, the butterfly house and new chimp house Eden are fab! Just a little disappointed that we went off peak with our toddler and we couldn't find anywhere in the zoo to have a sandwich for lunch! Just fish and chips and greasy burgers. We wanted a simple sandwich and drink. The coffee shop wasn't open and I'm sure they would've sold a sandwich. My husband who is diabetic then went past dinner before eating, making him feel poorly. We eventually found the indoor Himalaya cafe, and they just sold a pinnani for £6.95!!! And the child's meal was a tiny roll that was rock hard so couldn't feed my daughter properly. Disappointing for her first trip to the zoo, and yes we would of bought our own sandwiches but it was a spare of the moment trip! And I at least thought we would find lunch!! :-(
