We made a dedicated trip and had a lovely few hours. There was lots to see with split levels that kept your interest. The penguins were great, the octopus made an appearance and we would have loved to see more of the otters. We left to have lunch and a very kind member of staff let us back in, to try and see the otters. We hadn't realised last entry was 3pm, and they were super accommodating...thank you. There is plenty to see, read and touch. My grand daughter loved it all, the turtle in the tunnel is beautiful . It was clean, and we had a great time, would definitely go back.
We absolutely love the sea life centre! Visited many times over the years but on this occasion, we took our daughter for a treat on her first birthday - amazing as usual! Staff were all fabulous! There was plenty to see, and our little one was very engaged throughout. When we arrived the penguin talk was about to start, we found this very educational and entertaining as the staff seemed very invested - you could tell he cared about his job which made for an enjoyable experience. This member of staff also appeared a few times at different points offering little titbits of information, which we thoroughly appreciated - especially about the crayfish and the team’s dedication to their conservation! Some of our favourite things to see were obviously the penguins they are characters to say the lest and they seemed quite interested in the small children, swimming up to the glass and having a good old nosy! Also, the rays which we find so enjoyable to simply watch swimming around and their little mouths which look like faces are super cute! The sea otters are absolutely amazing, again they were interested in the small children coming up to the glass and interacting with the little ones which was fascinating. And not forgetting the turtle and sharks in the tunnel at the end, we could literally spend hours in there watching these guys! We also booked the Beyond the Surface tour - I highly recommend this, especially for the price! We were in a small group and the staff member again was amazingly knowledgeable and you could tell she enjoyed what she was doing, again making our time very enjoyable. The highlight of the tour for me was seeing the pregnant seahorses, they were just incredible! Overall, a lovely day out enjoyed by us all and we will definitely be returning in future. Thank you to everyone at the National Sea Life Centre Birmingham for making our visit an unforgettable experience and for all your hard work and dedication which we learnt about in the beyond the surface tour.
Just near Brindley place where you'll find plenty of restaurants and cafes.nnThe sea life centre may not be as good value as an national marine aquarium but they do a special ticket which we should've got which includes Legoland just around the corner.nnThere were penguins at the start which you could see either stood on the waters edge or under water as they swim which was great, there were lots of tanks with tunnels underneath so u can see the fish from another aspect. The water bridge is a real spectacle as you feel like you're under water with all the fishes, we missed the otters as they were hiding away when we walked past their enclosure.nThey do lots of daily activities with the fish and penguins and otters but we missed them unfortunately.nAll the staff were great and always on hand to answer any questions or let us interact with the fishes etc, I got to stroke a star fish which was exciting.nnThe facility goes from the bottom all the way to the top of the building with ramps and walkways etc, there is a pushchair stop at the entrance where u can leave it whilst you look around which is handy. Apparently there's is an lift back down to exit at the end of the tour but we didn't find it so walked down about 6 flights of stairs, which with a little one was fun.nWe would definitely go again.
Perfect place to take children to. Our little boy enjoyed seeing the animals and fish. He was also able to touch a starfish, shark egg and some shells which he was so happy with.nYou need to book in advance and there are some website with discounts about £5-6. We booked our tickets for 9.50 but we managed to get there an hour later and it was absolutely fine.
Went with my wife and grandchildren aged 8 and 10. They absolutely loved it. Took us around an hour and a half to get round. The highlight was the otters being fed. The staff were very helpful and informative. Ticket prices can vary but we picked up a family ticket from a ticket site called Picniq £15 cheaper than the official sea life site. A very enjoyable afternoon for adults and children alike and would definitely recommend.
