For a beautiful old building with history and charm travel lodge have managed to hide it all. All the rooms and corridors have been lined with plaster board and fitted with modern boring lights. The food is served in what appears to be a school canteen with plastic chairs and tables, the food is sparsely allocated and through out breakfast myself and others had to keep getting up to get more breakfast items as various options where unavailable at times due to the small amount of each item supplied in the self serve area. The parking was terrible as the hotel shares it's small parking area with the council so residents can't park as people shopping in the town use the car park leaving residents stuck paying to park and walking to the hotel from various pay and displays around town. If you do manage to get in a space your permit entitles you to park throughout the entirety of your stay and all day on your checkout day so that's good but your not likely to get a space. In general it's quiet and clean but could be so much more if it was independently owned and not being run by a budget chain

I have stayed here on a few separate occasions for work. The hotel itself is quite an old building possibly listed as non of the hotel is double glazed making noise an issue at times with this hotel with loud guests or noise outside waking me up. The WiFi is not free £3.00 per night or from memory £7.99 for 72 hours, be warned the signal isn't strong enough to stream Netflix or other subscription TV services but is sufficient if you need it for work( I have stayed in 5 separate rooms this is the case with all). Tea and coffee is provided in the rooms with extra if you ask on reception. No baths in the rooms only showers which although work fine could do with updating. It is clean and tidy throughout with high house keeping standards. The parking is first come first serve, be mindful of this if you are staying at peak times as the car park is small and always full. The food is very low quality don't bother. The staff are excellent all of them are very friendly. professional and helpful, always smiling and willing to help they are the best part of the hotel and contribute to a positive experience. I would grade the hotel 3 stars and the staff 5.In summary it is a decent budget hotel, it can be a bit noisy, parking is a bit naff but the rooms are clean and the staff are great.

Great location in the centre of Canterbury. There is parking but it's limited so get down at a decent time. Canterbury is difficult for parking where ever you stay so just be prepared to have to park somewhere else. The hotel is decent enough, comfortable bedrooms and welcoming staff. If you're here for one or two nights this is the ideal place to stay as it's affordable and central.

Not too bad for a one night stay over. No AC in the rooms so staying in summer is something I will avoid if I return. Room was OK and clean. No lift so good luck with your luggage when staying on the top floor. Breakfast was very good and worth the money. Overall not bad but I will not be returning any time soon.
