Great place for exhibitions. The main hall/shed is really huge which could accommodate biggest displaysnIt also had interactive play section for kids just next to the entrance. Free entry. No tickets.nWe expected it to have more than one exhibition though. Overall very nicely kept building with old tram tracks and old bricks still being there as a part of the aesthetic.
Went for a children's play event, 4 adults and 1 granddaughter. It was free and was busy but plenty of room and time to play with all the facilities offered. She liked the moveable maze and the coloured viewers the most, with the wooden shapes and wooden structures explored but probably too heavy for her. It was well heated so perfect for kids. We went into the exhibition there and she just loved running around the installation most of which was suspended from the ceiling and so offering wide open space. The adults took in the experience, an audio visual installation with a video of the artist describing the different parts of what was on show. The cafe was a bit basic, tables spread over two floors so could sit a lot of people. We had a drink there. The hidden garden was shut.
Amazing venue. Went to see Mec Lir. Great gig . Loved it.nCeltic connections sponsored by Innis and Gunn which is a rather tasty beer.
I visited this weekend after checking ahead that they cater to vegans. Despite their advertising, the reality was appalling.nnOne staff member was downright rude, brisk and dismissive, and treated a simple enquiry about vegan options as an inconvenience. I was dismissed and made to feel like a nuisance just for asking what was available beyond what I could see. I might have overlooked something.nnI ordered an oat milk cappuccino, only for a second staff member to tell me they were out of oat milk. She offered another plant milk, then immediately retracted that, saying they had no plant milk at all. It was only 1:20 PM. A bit later, the first staff member reappeared with three cartons of oat milk, claiming it was the last they had. The lack of communication and basic professionalism was staggering.nnIn a city like Glasgow, failing to provide plant-based options on a weekend is a failure to cater to life choices and allergies. I spoke to another guest who had the exact same experience. If I ever have to return, I’ll bring my own food and drink to ensure I actually have something safe to consume.nnAdditionally, the space is exceptionally noisy. Even with good ears, it was difficult to understand people.
Visited to see Tim Key, the show was spectacular, but as this is a venue review……. What an amazing space, I’m keen to return and see some other performances
