Nice, modern Toby Carvery in Newbury with lots of seating. Good value for money with current offer of a £6 carvery. Toni our waitress provided great service and explained the carvery and extras really well. The queue was quite long about a 10-minute wait and there were no potatoes, most of the veg was cold, which was a shame, though the yorkshire pudding was huge, the cauliflower and gravy were also hot and tasted good. The chocolate brownie sundae for pudding was great and Toni kindly added some honeycomb on top for us. Drinks station was easy to use, though a few drinks weren’t available. Overall a pleasant visit with friendly service.
If you like the value of a good roast at any time of the week, I recommend! We went for a walk nearby at Donnington Castle, and this was our reward. Good quality veg, meat pretty good, roast potatoes lovely. Mini-pudding and coffee is a nice option for afters. The staff were courteous and helpful. Thank you!
Stopped off on the way to Newbury races and was greeted at the front of house by JOSH the General Manager.nAfter giving me a very friendly welcome I got down to business. He took my drinks order & his better half who runs the place in partnership with him showed me the way to the carvery!!nNow the Toby Carvery chain have a deal on at the moment where small Carverys midweek are £6 ! Better than paying £11 for a small pie & mash at the races I hear you say!nThere were hoards of people coming in and out obviously taking advantage of the deal & the staff were frantically trying to reset the tables for new customers coming in.nI opted for a small gammon & pork as you can mix & match the meats . To get the pigs n blankets, which is just a cooked sausage i might add you have to size up to a large! After the chef had sorted my cuts of meat out with a massive Yorkshire pudding, you are left to help yourself to the veg, gravy & condiments as you wish.nNow I wasn't that hungry and didn't load the plates like I've seen some doing in the Toby in Nottingham which is my usual one, but the food was spot on with crispy roasties and the meats were not too dry under the heating lights. As it was so busy the veg had been like all piled together a bit but that's down to them being so busy.nAnyway, the place was clean & tidy on arrival with a warm welcome. The food was spot on with A1 service & the discount was an added bonus too! I will call again, next time im on my way to the races!!nWell done Toby Carvery in Newbury.
Food was ok, veg seemed a bit sad which I suppose makes sense for the time of evening, but we did have a reservation 7 of us so thought it would be up to date.nnServed by a lovely young lad called Ashley , did took our orders for all of us no problem, no mistakes, very professional. He really opened up the smarmy charm as the night went on, love it!nnMight come again!
We had a really lovely experience. The food was delicious, and everything was cooked perfectly. What really made the visit special was our waitress, Toni, she was absolutely lovely, so friendly, and fantastic with our kids. She made us feel welcome and relaxed from the moment we sat down. Excellent service and a great atmosphere.
