Story

A unique addition to Edinburgh’s restaurant scene created by the Radford family.

A new style of restaurant aware of sustainability & the environment. Ingredients supplied by small, local, artisan growers, breeders, producers & foragers.

Timberyard has a south facing yard for sunny days, a wood burning stove for colder nights & private dining in our authentic brick shed & a welcoming bar for those who are just after a drink. We have our own growing patch for herbs, used in the kitchen and behind the bar.

A space for growing, curing, smoking, drying, eating & drinking.

Normally I will not recommend one restaurant, but this one personal highly recommend. Interesting wine pairing with perfectly cooked and seasoned food. Photos on google map cannot justify the robust and rustic atmosphere in the restaurant. Smokiness flavour seemingly is the theme of the menu. One of a kind halibut I ever tasted. Service in detail and worth a revisit.

It was good. We did the 6 course meal. Some things were great. I can't say it's great value though. Save your cash and go to ting Thai caravan or saboteur for outstanding value. Didn't exactly try a bunch of high end splash outs, but there are others in Edinburgh. Given a chance I'd try one of them next time. Of high end restos I'd return to this isn't one. :-(

We had an amazing time here on our recent visit. The food was wonderful, the wines astonishingly good and the tea fantastic. From our phone calls to book, to our welcome, to our service - the staff were unfailingly friendly and knowledgeable. Although expensive, I thought it was great value - we had an evening we'll remember for a long time. Go - treat yourself!

Had a great dinner at the Timberyard. The rooms have a lot of character. We had the 4-course menu, and all courses were great. Especially the cod was amazing, and serving a partridge's leg with talons still attached is really impressive! If you get the chance, ask to go upstairs and see their wine "cellar". At £45 for a menu, it is very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend going there!
