Superb little music venue with great atmosphere in an unusual and quirky setting. It’s a converted boat with plenty of the walls being the hull of the boat so gives a nice industrial feel. The stage area is down in the hill of the boat with the stage at one end, some gallery standing running around the top and the lower standing running back to a bar area. Good range of beers available with another bar upstairs which is a bit quieter to grab a drink but also understandably has fewer people serving. Capacity overall is about 600 so an intimate setting and you’re never far from the stage. Great place to see a gig
Awesome venue, it’s a boat ! The live music was electrifying and straight through body and soul. Amazing would highly recommend any gig here.
For me this venue is too cramped and the stage is too low so you can't see of you're at the back and it gets very hot even in October but the sound was great
Generally Thursday is the best day for clubbing if you like indie music, if not the 241 drinks might help you enjoy the music ; Giggs are great there and the staff and security are super nice.
Got to be one of the best nights out in bristol - no matter what kind of music you’re into there’s always a night you’ll enjoy. Who doesn’t want 2 for 1 drinks in a boat with the best indie classics playing? Great atmosphere, quick and friendly staff, great bouncers, great music and great prices. Beer selection is ace too. You really can’t go wrong with Thekla!
Went here for a concert and the ambiance was beautiful. The drinks weren’t overpriced as in most venues
Our first visit to Thekla was a couple of weeks ago for Chris Shiflett & we had the best night. All the staff were very friendly & helpful & also easy to contact as I needed to arrange seating due to using crutches. We were back last night for Wednesday 13 & again we were very impressed & our view was amazing! Can’t wait for September when we see Lord of the Lost. As a live venue I highly recommend Thekla & look forward to coming back in the future!!
Seen lots of up & coming bands here plus more famous bands. 9 Below Zero Greaves on guitar & Mark Feltham on blues harp & Dirty Youth a good Welsh band with a great front woman. A Great little venue with a Fantastic atmosphere.
Never been for a club night but the gigs here are fantastic. I highly recommend this venue for any touring band. One of Bristol's best. Plus, it's a boat!
Excellent gig venue in the centre of Bristol. Inside the Clean Air Zone so check if you're exempt. Parking close by at reasonable cost, 12-15 minutes walk from Temple Meads. Shakespeare Inn a few minutes walk away.
