Absolutely fantastic food portions were really big, how can they afford it in these days?!, great atmosphere and service. If we only lived closer we would be there every weekend. Well worth the trip though!
Date of visit: September 2021 Went here for a family birthday gathering. We were all happy with the food. I had the sirloin steak which was perfect, excellent peppercorn sauce and chips. There is lots of outdoor seating and a separate kids area with hedge maze. Lots of parking available. Wheelchair accessible. Clean and nice decor. Dog friendly. Good facilities.
Amazing food, friendly staff, great gins, big thumbs up from us We'll definitely come back.
Sunday roasts.. top class and nice large portions, good selection of vegetables too. The gravy was spectacular, best ever. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful, Thank you for a lovely meal.
The pub itself is nice and cosy, spacious and in a lovely location with plenty of parking available. Unfortunately the food side of things let us down massively. I ordered a vegan meal, and upon arrival requested more gravy, which the waitress brought, the food itself wasn’t great to begin with most likely warmed up in microwave, didn’t taste fresh, but that’s fine, it’s only a pub meal, we weren’t expecting miracles, half way down my meal I noticed gravy had bits of cow flesh floating around in it. I addressed it with the lady at the bar could have been the owner/manager who assured me that it’s not possible I’ve been given beef gravy. I showed her the bits of meat floating around at the bottom of the gravy pot, she was still claiming it’s herbs . I was very upset by this and she did try to be sympathetic and offer another meal, it was too late by then, when it comes to food, allergies, cross contamination etc and should be treated more seriously. I wouldn’t trust to eat there if you are vegan/vegetarian, as kitchen/staff are not careful about separating dietary requirements, I’d be especially cautious if you have allergies, as mistakes like this could be lethal to some…
We returned after a 3 month absence at our new home in Italy. A very friendly welcome from Pete, Cat, George & Linzi - Jane we missed you! A great selection of Beers & a fantastic meal of Cheese & Garlic Bread, Beef Cheeks with potatoes & vegetables & Fish & Chips with a shared Sticky Toffee Pudding - all were excellent & very tasty. Great value for money & a warm & friendly place. Highly recommend eating here.
Great family run pub, excellent home cooking, varied menu and superb choice of beers. Lots of room and dogs welcome. Keep up the great work guys n gals
Probably the best meal out I've had in a while. Beat the other Cheshire restaurants and pubs for a decent price. About £16 per main and £7 per starter. Chicken and mushroom pie, came with greens and lush cabbage, red wine gravy and perfect chunky chips that soaked up the gravy perfectly. My other half had rump steak with peppercorn sauce, gorgeous side salad and the same chips, perfectly soaked up then peppercorn sauce. Literally, everything was great. The salad itself was a side salad but it could have been a side dish of its own; tonnes of olives, rocket, wafers of parmesan, rocket and tomatoes, mixed with pesto. Not like the walnut salad I had the other day, which had 3 walnut halves.
Would have given 5 stars apart from the fact that we were there for my husbands birthday, Sunday lunch, and he ordered roast lamb. It was delivered and he started to eat it with the mint sauce poured over. A few minutes later the waitress came over and said the chef wanted it back as he thought he'd been given beef instead of lamb. My husband said he was happy to keep it as he'd started it but the waitress insisted on taking it away and bringing lamb out. Left a bit of a bitter taste on what was otherwise a lovely meal.
Yes it is good. Quality, and quantity of food is superb and fairly priced. Negatives ; piped music, lots of dogs and tip added to bill. But I am giving it 5 stars because the fundamentals are very good.
