On entering, greeted with a warm smile. Enthusiastic when explaining the specials available which nearly had me changing my mind from the steak I had come in for with my Son Ethan. But I held fast and we both had the sirloin, which was an excellent decision as it transpired but I was still left wondering about the lobster tail she so nearly had me salivating for. Ah well a good excuse to return and sample their fare and extremely pleasant surroundings, a well kept old British pub tasteful decorated and local images framed and displayed throughout even one of a fine incurred in 1925 which I found fascinating.
Food was delicious. Amazing service and ambience. Would definitely visit again. They accept Tesco vouchers.. dont forget to redeem them when you pay at the counter.
Excellent well run pub. With a relaxed atmosphere, good service and tasty food.
The servers were very lovely, but the food was very average. The Sunday roast was a giant Yorkshire pudding covering what I thought was a paltry portion of soggy veg. The roast potatoes were a little dry on the inside and supposedly roasted in goose fat, but nothing like crispy. Not the worst roast I've had, but it didn't feel worth the circa £13.80 price tag. The pub itself is a traditional style country pub, but the décor is looking a little tired seats were particularly dirty. The front of house experience is really what boosted my impression, so kudos to those staff - they were friendly, attentive and efficient. The bottom line is that if I was ever passing through again on a Sunday, I might go back for a roast, but I'm not in any hurry to.
Had a lovely evening here with my wife. It was a celebration night for my birthday today 04/12/22 and we enjoyed it very much. Food was excellent and waitress Francesca was so helpful in all she did for us. Will be back again soon.
Really lovely pub, food was amazing and staff are very friendly. Services was nice and quick too!
We went here for the first time as my mother's day treat. 4 adults and my 9 year old daughter. From the moment we walked through the door we were greeted by not only a beautiful and cozy interior but by very welcoming and happy staff. The food did not disappoint either. We had one main dish that unfortunately had to be sent back but it was corrected very efficiently and professionally by our waitress Franny. My 9 year old daughter is a foodie ! We normally don't even ask for a children's menu is restaurants as they are usually the same 3/4 options different variations with chips and beans however this menu proved to be an absolute winner for Grace, with her favourite dish being mussles!!!! She gave them a 5* review with Franny. The service from the whole team today was absolutely flawless , it was very obvious that they were busy and had been all day but each and every one of them still has a smile on their face and great service to give. Franny thank you very much for looking after us so well ,you are amazing And one last mention is to the lovely Vee behind the bar. She is exactly what you want and need from a bartender , funny , bubbly and knowledgeable! She made us feel like we were regulars in the pub and that was lovely. She even made my fella the most awkward cocktail invented , an old fashioned she smiled all the way through it saying ' she didn't need to do arm day at the gym now !' Funny and professional. Thank you to every member of staff at the Butley Ash for making my mother's day very special.
Had a meal today. It was my sons birthday and we had a table for 9. Not the easiest crowd to please ages from 14 up to 75. The waitress Megan was fantastic. Some wanted starters some didn't. We all had a main meal and some had desert followed by coffee. Couldn't fault the service and every meal was fantastic. Great atmosphere. Already planning a return.
The service was OK at best, the waitresses could have been a lot more attentive spending far to long wandering past but not engaging. The green salad with grains was poor, to many grains and only the odd sliver of the other ingredients and the side order of roasted chilli squash was pitifully small for £3.50 and chilli free.
The food was really nice and came fairly quickly. The staff were really nice especially Francesca who was very funny and despite what my dad said, she made a very good Irish coffee and her manager should give her a raise so she can fix her car
