About

The Station is a lovely suburban pub on the outskirts of Kings Heath. Come in and sample our menu or check out our amazing beer garden.

Story

Situated at the beginning of Kings Heath High Street, minutes away from Moseley.
The Station has a strong focus on food, ranging from breakfast every day, to roasts at the weekend, and a wide variety of our take on pub classics in-between. There is also a monthly specials menu, offering a few dishes which really showcase the fresh, locally sourced produce that we use.

The new re-fit really shows the wide variety of different areas to the pub, and brings in a lot of quirky contemporary features, whilst highlighting some of the incredible original Victorian aspects of the interior and frontage to the pub. This all leads through to the great garden space, on two different levels, with plenty of little areas to explore and great views of the local chimney tops providing a really unique space!

Easy to find and had ample parking when I arrived. Was staying overnight for business. Was a loud evening as a match was going on on TV however, when I arrived at room, silence. Peaceful silence. Becky was lovely checking me in and I met some of the other team members that evening. All were lovely. Slept peacefully. Room was clean and simple as was the bathroom. Had easy access to the car park. In the morning, Donna was lovely and accommodating. Overall, clean and quiet rooms with great service. Would stay over again.
A great place on a budget. Comfy bed, fab shower and not far from the motorway. Had an overnight stop here to break up a long journey and was very comfortable. The hotel is attached to a busy local pub but was not affected by bar noise and it was busy when we arrived. Don't expect the Ritz as you aren't going to get it for this price. What you do get is a comfortable room with a fab shower and surprisingly some complimentary soap/shampoo which I tried and were good. As per reviews I have seen prior the room did smell of smoke which I can't understand, as a heavy smoker myself I found the entrance a great area as there is a conditioning unit pumping out warm air which made a smoke outside comfortable so come on folks stop smoking in the rooms. The attached pub is a true local and can get a little colourful but for me adds to the experience as I am used to this as a Northener myself. All in I would say it was a pleasure to stay here .
TLDR: Awful service which cost me a £170 on top of £120 for the rooms because they told me a parking fine which I should not have received in the first place had been cancelled. Only to find that it hadn't. The only redeeming factor of this venue is the fact that its so close to a train station for access into Birmingham. We stayed during a multi day event at the NEC so the cost of £60 per room I booked 2 was a lot less than the surrounding hotels which wanted close to £200. The room itself was musty and although it had been "Surface" cleaned you could tell it had not had a thorough clean in a while. The mattresses were extremely thin and uncomfortable as soon as you sit or lay on the bed you can feel the hard base of the bedframe The listing stated that there was parking onsite. And on booking i paid a £50 per room deposit and left my Car Registration with reception. Which I received the same day as checkout I had a rough nights sleep however for the price and comparison for premium hotels, it is what it is. We left early in the morning to get back to our event at NEC. The problems occurred 2 weeks later, when I received a PCN Parking Charge Notification, they wanted £100 because i had parked on their property. I contacted them via phone, and spoke to Donna, who gave me an incorrect email address and telling me to send a picture of the PCN and details of my car and they would handle it, after a bounce back and then calling the hotel back to get the correct email, i send the information through. I had to chase up two days later to get any confirmation that it was done. They said, its all cancelled, please do not respond to any further requests from the PCN. And there were no further requests to be fair. Until 37 days later. when I received a debt collection notice asking for £170 because I had failed to pay a PCN. I tried to call the hotel but they would not answer, I emailed the hotel asking for immediate response giving my contact information. They did not call. I contacted the debt collection company and provided evidence that I was a customer of the venue and that the landlord had told me the PCN was cancelled. They did not care. They had bought the "Debt" and they were ruthless. I could have been on my death bed with cancer and they would have pressed charges against me. But that's not who i am reviewing here. I managed to get an email response from Donna at the Station Inn and she said it had been cancelled and not to pay it.. However she was not the one with aggressive debt collectors contacting her so why does she care? She claimed that it had been cancelled and there was nothing else to be done about it.. She did not provide any proof that it had been cancelled and refused to take liability for the charge incurred to me. In the end, as i only actually had 3 working days to figure things out before the Debt Collectors would press charges against me i ended up £170 out of pocket with a new found abhorrent hate for The Station Inn. I sincerely hope that somebody reads this review, and chooses to stay away from this venue because of it. They are undeserving of your custom.
Let down by previous booking 30mins before we arrived. Found this place last minute, wasn’t sure what to expect with some of the reviews. Staff were welcoming on arrival, room is basic but tidy, our headboard broke but was fixed immediately on reporting. We were in the bar most nights during our stay and food was nice, staff again very pleasant and welcoming. We were happy and would consider using this place again next year at Crufts time.
Not the best night, rooms as tired as a one legged kickboxer. When I lay on my bed and closed my eyes, it felt like I was at sea.Rooms: 1/5
Pros * Friendly check in staff * Free parking * Bar looked up together, typical local pub. * Good Location for our planned days out. * Shower was good. Cons • Walls in the room were filthy- looks like beds and towels are changed but no actual cleaning takes place. • Walls are paper thin. First night consisted of guests stamping, shouting and banging doors whilst making their way to their rooms into the early hours. Second night THE WORST NIGHTS SLEEP I'VE EVER HAD, next door didn't shut up until 7am. Loud music, shouting, arguing in the corridor, slamming doors. I've always been of the belief that you cannot help who you get as guests but there was no number to call for assistance, the fact they were arguing in the corridor at 3am shows that there is no CCTV or it's not being monitored and I was unable to go see if there was any security as I was not leaving 2 children alone in the room whilst there were intoxicated guests. Had I been alone, I would have left in the night....you'll sleep better in the car. Nobody at the desk, when we left. I don't usually complain but others need to be warned. At the cost, I don't expect extras....no toiletries, coffee, toaster, iron etc but when selling a hotel stay, I would expect a clean room and to get some sleep.
Station inn, I enjoyed my stay! Staff very welcoming, friendly and kind! Rooms cosy and clean, no noise pollution! Location for me was perfect, Shops, transportation. car park very easy access! I would definitely stay again. Very happy customer Safety: CTTV in hotel/car park Key and Code for entry
Reading the reviews I really thought it was a good choice. They have a car park, that is a good start, entering through the pub, with a good atmosphere and to reception. Waited to be attended and a lovely woman came, she explained everything very well and gave us the key for the room and the remote. Then is when the dissatisfaction comes. The room isn't as we expected. Not very clean, beds not very comfortable and a bit depressing. No kettle and small amount of toiletries. We watched TV and heard all the others doors with people talking loudly. Tried to sleep as better as we could. It was just a night out but feeling weird. In the morning the kitchen was closed as the cook didn't feel well so it was no breakfast. Looked for the way out, left the key and the remote in a box and left the place looking sad. Rooms: Muy justitas, dos camitas individuales, un baño pequeño y con falta de limpieza en general.
Got a parking ticket despite displaying my disabled parking badge.. spent ages looking for any signs..none... and then spent 3 hours in the pub at a hen night... I am not parking on the road as it looks bloody rough and I need to park close and I have a new car!Rooms: 1/5
Toe nail clippings on the widow seal , Dirty in corners of the bathroom and the Ariel for the TV was broken so no telly No one on site in case of emergency - found that out at 7am when the people next door were locked in and couldn't get out. Walls so thin I could hear the person snoring in another room all night Staff - The house keeper was really friendly and helpful. The Lady on the desk wasn't friendly upon arrival, even giving wrong access code to doors . In the morning miserable as hell because people were ordering breakfast at 945 says in room 8-10
