First time back since Black Country Ales took over the running of it. Its had a refurbishment but keeps most of its back street local charm. Excellent bar person on hand to assist if you find the incredible choice of cask ales overwhelming.Service: 5/5
Another excellent pub located walking distance from Brindley Place and Symphony Hall in Birmingham. It offers an excellent selection of real ales, ciders, wines and spirits as well as freshly made cobs all in a traditional pub surrounding.
A good little out that is part of the Black Country Ales pubs, might be one of my favourites for interior since doing the Ale Trail. Lady behind the bar was lovely, there was something wrong with the Soft drink I ordered which she apologised for and had to get me a diet one instead of a regular one. Wasn't her fault but she handled it very well. It was the first pub from the Black Country Ale pubs that didn't make me feel like I was the youngest one there as all the other customers weren't that old.
Been going since I was a lad! A very different place from then to look at but the basics are still just right. The service is really excellent with very good staff indeed. Atmosphere is just how a pub should be and not a place trying to be bits of things stuck together ie restaurant, games centre etc etc etc. Its a pub. Very nice beers, clientele are a very decent bunch and very welcoming. Its priced about right too. Nice little gem from old Brum brought up to date but not too much!
Excellent drinks, nice service. The best thing was that we also won the Quiz on Tuesday.Service: 5/5
We were visiting the nearby Utilita Arena for the Simple Minds concert and dropped in here for a few pre gig drinks. Great selection of drinks at very reasonable prices for city centre. I have not yet found a Black Country Ales pub that I would not recommend you all visit. Always clean, with great decor, and a proper pub atmosphere. Will be our go-to place from now on when visiting the arena.
Superb old style victorian pub with an excellent range of real ale. My stout was delicious. Always my go to pub in Birmingham given their excellent range of alesFood: 5/5
Always a great range of well kept beers with a friendly welcome from knowledgeable staff. Generously filled cobs. If you are in Birmingham it is well worth a visit.
Porter, cob, fire. Sweet. Loads better since the refurb. Really comfortable. Staff are great.Food: 4/5
First visit and great choice as always. Fantastic pub and beer.Service: 5/5
