Came here to celebrate a family birthday and had a wonderulful meal. Everything was delicious! There were so many interesting options on the menu it was hard to choose what to have. The food tasted great and served with plenty of vegetables. It was all cooked just perfectly. The award winning yorkshire pudding certainly lived up to it's reputation. The service was very efficient and friendly especially as it was a busy Sunday and we were a large table. Would highly recommend a visit!
Such a remarkable and wonderful place. From the moment you enter this special and tasteful restaurant you are made to feel welcome and special. The staff are friendly, polite and very helpful. They are attentive and don't let you sit without drinks. Front of house had remembered we'd booked for a birthday as well and wished one of our party a happy birthday, a thoughtful touch. The food is spectacular. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for. Freshly cooked meals there is a wait for items such as the pie and crumble because they are prepared from scratch, there is plenty on the menu for everyone and the desserts are delicious. I honestly can't fault the place. We keep coming back. A real Yorkshire gem. Kid-friendliness: Nothing is too much trouble for the kids, they are very much welcome as part of the dining experience.
We were recommended this place for a great place to eat with quality food, we were not disappointed! The car park is large and easily accessible, I only saw 1 disabled bay near the door but maybe there are more. The staff were warm and welcoming, from the front door you can just tell this place exudes class, it is very well decorated and aesthetically pleasing on the eye. The initial bar area is a large space where you also wait to be seated. We had booked a table in the restaurant area. We were shown through straight away seated at a decent table to the rear of the establishment. There was another what looked like quite a sizeable function area just off this followed by more restaurant seating. There is also bar area seating which I presume is for the less formal occasions. Service was fast and efficient, the menu certainly has some great options on the food and the drink front. There is no public Wi-Fi provided and I found phone signal on EE to be extremely lacking so don’t expect to be glued to your electronic devices on the interglobe too much! I had the Yorkshire pudding for a starter which was very good indeed. I decided to go for the steak and ale pie which came with chips it was the best steak and ale pie I have ever had! The quality of the meat within was amazing! It was very rich so the fact it was on the smaller side was very welcome, I couldn’t have eaten much more if I’d have wanted to. The quality was just superb. The wife had the steak which was melt in the mouth good, as she cut the meat it just fell away; amazing quality! For dessert I had the blood orange and white chocolate cheesecake again amazing quality, a true delight to eat. We all finished our meals off with a coffee a few of us having liqueur coffees. We all thought the coffee lacked a bit of quality which was a shame when measured against the rest of the food and drink which was superb. Based on this experience maybe they should review their coffee supplier/selection, the liqueur did its best to mask it. The good thing about the coffee though is you get some delicious honeycomb to go with it, this can also be bought by the bag. This place is an excellent choice for a meal out, on the pricier side of the line but you pay for quality and The Star Inn certainly delivers in spades on every count but one. Based on this experience we will certainly be back for more, already looking forward to it! I really want to sample their Christmas menu! Totally recommend!
Excellent gastro pub, lost in rural East Yorkshire, really beautiful location where you can enjoy excellent British food! The highlight for us was their award winning Yorkshire pudding... One incredibly delicious plate of food!!
We booked a table as a treat for mother's day and we will be back again soon, the venue and staff were absolutely lovely and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. We drove over from Doncaster and the drive was well worth it
Excellent food, friendly staff and a lovely place to sit and have a meal. Could not fault anything.
Such a warm, welcoming and cosy country pub. Staff are very professional but friendly. The monthly Yorkshire menu is an absolute treat and great value for money. We've visited many times and never been disappointed. The fabulous vegan choices are exceptional too and will keep me coming back for more!Food: 5/5
Lovely surroundings and interior of restaurant. Staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and polite, it was lovely to experience such 5 star service in this lovely restaurant. The food menus were diverse and a good choice of dishes for fish, meat and vegetarian eaters. Beer selection was wide and varied, really enjoyed the ales. Will definitely be back to try the Sunday dinner.
We've been here many times over the past 15 years but this was our first visit since the pandemic. Simply stunning. The food was outstanding and the service was great. Its not cheap but you can't beat it for a special occasion. Surely one of the best restaurants in East Yorkshire. Vegetarian options: Good choice of vegetarian options. Parking: Large car park
Excellent Christmas Dinner, the staff went all out to make our day specialFood: 5/5
